yes but there is a paint that mimics chrome. its like those plastic shiny fake swords you buy for kids but not so cheep looking. it would be next to impossible to chrome something that big all at once
chrome's OK. but it's not the sexiest thing ever. the advert kylie minogue did for agent provocateur is the sexiest thing ever.
Yes but as you might've seen the piece to paint must be as smooth as glass, i remember seeing on the net, something else that you could paint anything wood, plastics, metals. You had to buy the whole kit to do it though but someone with the money for the investment, would make a lot of money, since chrome never goes out of style. I will try to find it and post back Edit: here it is after 40 or so google pages http://www.goldtouchinc.com/cosmichrome/systeminfo.html and a cool video http://homepage.mac.com/goldtouchinc/iMovieTheater4.html
$1200 for a gallon? I think not...If I was going to get a chrome finish all over my car, I would definitely find somewhere that would have an electroplating area large enough to do it, so it's the real deal, not some *expensive* faker.
to electroplate some thing like that wouldent u have to gut the car of every thing bofer u did and what kind fo place has one that big
You'd have to get all the plastic body panels remade as aluminum or some such, then have them sent to the place. You wouldnt chrome the chassis etc, just the body panels. Granted it would be a rather large dissasembly process, and would require some severe modifications to the body in order to seperate the panels, but it could be done.
Not necissarily. There are techniques that allow any material to be electroplated (of which chrome is one metal that could be used). It basically starts off with the item to be plated being sprayed with a film which has a high carbon content. This then becomes the conductor for the plating process. This has been around for years (Bronzing baby booties has NOT been trendy for a very long time). It's quite big in the moddified rice rocket and buzz box 4 cylinder car scene. Not my scene really - give me real steel and cubic inches any day. *Not looking to start a flame war - different strokes for different folks*
