Good news for those in the UK and want to see this rig!

ASUS have chosen my rig to display on their stand at Insomnia 52 and will be there all weekend.

    Great success!

You think Caselabs have thick Alu.....Not compared to those InWin high end cases they dont.

Im really keen to get cracking!

And if they carry on like they have been,Im bloody well staying there!!

It was mad, some of the ASUS guys reported people asking about buying it so I hung around fielding questions....I dont think they would of liked the asking price tho and I would of only charged for parts.

I need to polish my drinking skills for LAN tho, these whippersnappers were making me look bad! XD

Dammit I wish I could have made it to iSeries, making plans to ensure I'll be around for i53, should have some cool stuff to bring along by then too.

Really looking forward to seeing you tackle that InWin, they're always interesting build and I can't wait to see what route you take with it. Personally I'm a bit miffed with caselabs, they weren't interested in sharing a 3D model with me (as in an stl file, not a CAD step), meanwhile NZXT actually sent a fully blown official CAD file, I only asked for a poly mesh conversion rofl.

While I have total respect for what Jim and Kevin do and would buy one for a professional environment in a heartbeat (I am considering one for my SR2 even now), I am going counterculture on them tho for mods, they are,as you say, functional and well made but the aesthetics are not great and the kind of myth that they are the be-all end-all of cases that follows them around irritates me.

    It shouldnt but sadly,it does.

100% agree with you there. I'm always disheartened when I see a great build in a 900D or Enthoo Primo and the first comments are "why didn't you go for Caselabs?". It's as if above a certain price, people aren't allowed to go for anything else and that they must all appreciate the same cases.

I'm also not completely sold on the idea that they're a modder's dream either. Sure there are plenty of positives like solid aluminium construction, only using screws, being able to pick up a number of default panels for different uses. But in my opinion, these things are PC assemblers dreams, not modders. In contrast, I'd label things like the TJ07, Apple G5, numerous old dell cases etc. modding dreams. They require some hard graft, some creativity, they also offer alternative forms. I guess it's a similar deal with cars. I find it more impressive seeing somebody breath new life into an old rust bucket than souping up a new Range Rover.
