Just watch this. http://my.break.com/content/view.aspx?ContentID=529671 Anyway, first time I've seen this, but at the start you think "Hmm who would attack a POW", then a few minutes later your saying "Now that's a very clever tactic". Personally, if the main tactic of this was to bring out Obama's lack of experience and bring McCain's POW past into the limelight, it's a pretty good one.
WOW, just how right wing is the US media? Just because someone served in the military, and was a POW does not automatically equate to being a good President.
WTF!!!! America...you cant be sooo stupid! So a guy states a fact( he wasnt on charge of group in a military campain?). And what has ejecting out a jet got to do with becoming the president? Now hes attacking a war hero? I did notice its all FOX news. is it them or is it a sign of the times that the worlds getting dumber. I thought britain was bad but this takes the cake. If i had to watch this all day id go out and top myself.
I see CNN and MSNBC in there too... Clark has a point though, and the news agencies are blowing it out of proportion.
I could only watch about 1 minute of that before i wanted to staple that female newsreaders mouth shut. QFT infact i would say its exactly what i wouldnt want in a president.... A military man, and someone who has been through the traumatising experience of being a POW. why do americans give such a crap about being in the military?
The US government says that someone like Hugo Chavez is an evil dictator just because he has a military background but it is ok for an American with a military background to run for president.
Well he has tried to become a dictator (pushed for a bill to put him in power indefinitely, shutdown a tv network). And there are a large number of Venezuelans that have caught on to this. As to whether he's evil or not, that's for the US government to decide... (sarcasm)
yodasarmpit said it all really. The right-wing American view is that life-experience and honorable values must equate to picking up some medals in military service. Haven't done that? Well you've obviously lived the easy life kiddo and aren't in a position to judge which middle-eastern country you invade next. Ironically Obama has none of this, and nor does he have a relatively large amount of political experience compared to past candidates/presidents, so it'll be interesting to see if policies win over past.
All taken extremely out of context, hello this is the ****ing media is this really news? And most US news is actually quite liberal except for FOX. Mcain did do some very honorable things as a service man, and for the most part they do not qualify him for presidency but serve to assure people of his patriotism and devotion, as there are many ways to serve your country. Either way both him and Obama have to get the job before they can do anything, and it seems that both of them are shifty enough to have a facade, after all Obama just drastically shifted his Iraq strategy. The best we can hope for is that they pull a Kennedy on us and drop their stupider policies when they become president.
This is old news, guys. This was from, what, a month ago? Something like that. The speaker, GENERAL Richard Clarke is the former head of NATO and is widely respected an a counter-terrorism expert with a number of books to his credit. McCain on the other hand finished the Naval Acadamy last in his class, and probably wouldn't have graduated at all if he hadn't been the son and grandson of admirals. He was shot down because he was doing something dumb, though he did act honorably, even heroically, as a POW. Only problem is that his biggest command in the service was of a squadron in peacetime. That right there is the sum total of his leadership expierience. And yeah, that's pretty much par for American "news". Keep in miond that this was the same network that brought you the "terrorist fist bump"
ahh thanks ! I was really wondering. Now I shall watch the video and have an idea of what they're talking about
2000 election Bush hid out in the National Guard, and even had strings pulled to avoid going when the rest of his wing went. 2004 election has Bush, with same token enlistment, against John Kerry. We'd have been better off if we had either of those two instead of Bush.
