Hardware CM Storm Sentinel Review

I still don't think the negative comments add up. Logitech for example have thousands of people worldwide using their products and their gaming mice are deemed to be some of the best available. If they were so unreliable, surely this would have had a much larger and more public negative effect by now? Surely through this website and others, experiences of continous unreliabilitty should be a major point to state to us, the readers and should drastically reduce the review scores.

What is a cheap mouse anyway ? I paid it 60 Bucks, Same price as the Steelseries Ikari Optical(If you know this brand). I Mean dude a cheap mouse for me turn around 20$. The Mx400 at 35$ is one of the cheapest gaming mouse ever and it Rock. So I repeat , what is a Cheap mouse ?

Why have you gone off about cheap mice? I made no mention about 'cheap', only that for its (the CM Storm Sentinel) price I believe there are better mice out there. Ghys raised issues of reliability that I have already questioned. As for your self, I'm not too sure what your point is. Yes there are more expensive mice that are not worth their money (an opinion by the way) such as the Razer Mamba and there are good mice to be had for less. My point is that for the £40-£50 mark, I'm not sure I would seriously consider this.

Never said you were... but this article is on an English website and clearly states both £ and US$ in the heading of the article. But even so, what ever the cost is in Canada I am sure it is relative and comparative to other mice in Canada.... around the same price as the original Logitech G9 or the new G500 for example.

Actually, I've had my Logitec wireless optical for just over 7 (seven) years ...works just fine.

 

This is a good point and I am puzzled as to why I don't hear more complaints about Logitech and Razer considering all the problems my entourage and I have had over the years.

The two companies make appealing products however and I'm sure someday I'll buy something from them again... I only hope you're right and this time what I will buy will be reliable

 

not really had problems with logitech mice (apart from Me breaking them), got an G9 now (MX1000 mouse was very good it had 7 buttons that you could set an number to worked very well in BF2)

Razor mice most common Fault is the right click clicker breaking (you can press it but it does not work you you have to press it harder then after an short time it no longer clicks at all) thats how most of Razor mice die, does depend on witch model but most norm died that way for Razor

 

The Sentinel is a gaming mouse its for ather application than MSN or worktask I dont know if you game with your wireless Mouse but Ive done with 3 Logitech G7 and 1 Microsoft Intelimouse so I know the subject. Did you never played at Audiosurf and your Wireless Mouse Skip it own signal for 1 second and thats it you have to restart Mahadeva because your 30% Stealth Bonus is now Scrap. 9:26 minute of Intense Dodging.....for nothing because your Wireless Mouse hasnt done it job, You want to hit it with a sledgehammer.

 

A couple points here...
1: You shouldn't claim to know a subject based on limited experience. Your quoted personal experience is based on 3x of the same make and model and a single alternative.
2: Now I may be wrong, but I believe the Logitech G7 was the first wireless mouse from any company to actually be listed as a gaming mouse. As such, it is an innovation and there will always be more issues with the first line of products. This is why it has been years for Logitech or any other company to get involved with wireless gaming mice. The two current efforts from MS and Razer cost around £100 each, way above the standard for gaming mice.
3: You also have to take in to account the type of gaming that is played. While wireless mice and their technical issues may cause chaos in certain types of games, these issues may not be noticable while playing other types of games. Therefor the experience of the individual will differ greatly. This point would also cover personal preference on whether you even like the mouse in the first place.

 

Umm..Schizo, this mouse actually offers MOST in its price range. At $50, you would be looking at Razer Deathadder, SteelSeries Ikari Optical, Microsoft Sidewinder, Saitek Cyborg and almost all the less known brand gaming mice (interesting how most of them debut at $50).
First impression, it whooped the competition with massive 5200DPI laser sensor.
Now, I never actually used one (and none of the comment-ors did either?) so I don't know what it feels like in-game, which should be considered the most important aspect in judging gaming mice.
The only thing I wanna find out before buying this mouse is how does clicking feel compare to Razer. Razer dominates the market with their responsive click and I'm addicted to it (owns 5 Razer as of now).

 

Alright! Finally got my hand on one of those. By far the best gaming mouse I have used. Better than Logitech G9x (owned), Razer Deathadder (friend), Razer Diamondback (owned) Razer Salmosa (owned), Razer Copperhead (friend), Saitek Cyborg (owned), Stealseries Ikari Laser (friend), Logitech MX518 (friend). The best!
First impression, it feels so nice in your hand, same rubber coat like Razer, 2 main buttons are bare metal, rest are hard plastic. Bottom is hard plastic as well, however, it doesnt give you that cheap plastic feel of Razer mice, you can tell from even the look that it's much sturdier and higher quality than Razer. The shape is so nice, I can palm the mouse really well. One thing, they dont give enough room for your ring finger and pinky (if you're the type that uses only index and middle finger), I actually been using my ring finger for right click, a little slow to adapt but it feels better for my hand, may be I'll turn pro and use 3 fingers like the hardcores. Oh, clicking takes effort unlike Razer.
Technical, on-the-fly is really on the freaking fly. Unlike some mice where you have to look at the mouse to position the DPI or the profile button, then once you press it you have to waste 2 seconds for it to kick in, this once is on the freaking fly. Your finger will find the buttons easily and once pressed, they will take effect immediately. The precision and traction is as advertise, it can match up well with the Logitech G9x (also 5600DPI), the Logitech is a little smoother though, this one does skip (or may be my comp got slower from all the junks last 9 months). It doesn't glide so well on my current plastic pad compare to all the other mice, I'm planning to get the Razer Destructor when it goes on sale (yeah right!). Instead of spreaded out mouse feet, the have 2 huge vertical feet on each side, I think that's what preventing it from gliding horizontally.
Software is BOSS. They have more **** than you could imagine, totally owned Razer and Logitech with the macro support. But ironically, I would rather have the DPI buttons for on-the-fly switching, so there are no extra buttons for me to mess with. Lame!
Well, overall, it has strength and weakness, but I just love how it feels, as I said the feeling and the comfort is number one requirement in gaming mice. You should get it! You can show it to your non-gaming friends and they would have to say: "it looks nice!" PEACE!

 

Yes I know I am going to get ripped apart for bringing something out of the museum but I recently acquired this mouse. I have got a MX518, MX1000 and the G9x as well but when it come to comfort this mouse goes with the MX1000.

The software is easy to use and I really like the mouse. Would I get rid of my Logitech mice no never.

But give this one a go if you have large hands and want to try something new and different.

Also comes with spare pads
