Yeah, project finnished. Sorry, but I don't really visit here any more so I haven't updated anything. If anyone else cares, I have completed a CNC lathe conversion since this router, and am planning on converting a 50 year old knee mill to CNC sometime in the winter. edit - here is a shot from the archives, with a new, shiney aluminuim T-slotted table on it.
I'm hoping that that was humour i assume it was. Tis a shame you have lost the 'modding bug' hope you catch it again...beautiful machine you've got their 'doc
Hell, I have visited this site more times today than I have in thepast year! Yup, I still have the modding bug, it just doesn't relate to computers anymore (part of my cnc lathe modding) Nice to still feel welcome here though - keep going guys
How about some action movies? And you are STILL the baddest ass modder on the board, IMHO. You fabricate tools to fabricate mods! its craaaazy!
holy freaking crap. are you for real? you seriously made that freaking thing? i guess this is a mad old thread. and some fu<k1ng how i missed it. um. so are you contracting out yet? can you make me a nice big back panel outta alu? id have to make the cad drawings but that seems to be large enuf to do what i need done... um. wow. oh damn. too bad you are in the UK. no sense in shipping it crost sea. crap. well. congrats dude. thats in-fuc<king-credible.
I'm trying to persuade myself not to get and HPI savage kong and you go and give me ideas about custom built wheels for it! /I must resist!
Holy crap, all these old names I had long forgotten about! Noce o hear from ya'll again! Gordy, custom alloys? Why do you think I built a cnc lathe! Go get that Savage
Ooooh stop tempting me I gonna have to save some cash for it really as they are a weeee bit pricey at 400quid!
Im just getting into machineing, and converting my mill to CNC really interests me. How much did all the steppers and driver units cost you? Last time i checked it seemed like a fair whack, guess its not a cheap hobby. Still I would like to keep some manual machines, having it all done by computers takes some of the satisfaction out of it.
You're probably looking at around £1000 to do it right, but with an eye on ebay, you can save a fair whack.
do you frequent any other forums now, i would love to see a project log for that cnc lathe, and a video of it in action, it is awesome. keep up the good work
£1000 ey? Think i'l wait till I move out and get a CNC bridgeport. They go for around £500 on ebay! Although I bets its so satisfying making your own.
Milgo, a bridgeport would be lovely if you have the space, but be aware that the cnc control may be out of date, having a small memory, the electrics would be three phase, and the power for the servo motors would probably be 3 phase also. If anything is wrong with any part of the electronics, it can cost thousands to fix it. Blackman, I moderate over on cnczone where you will find many other people that know more than I do about diy-cnc. It is well worth a look.
thank you I just stumbled upon this tread and wanted to say thank you for shareing all that. I really helped me with what I am looking to do.
