Got my new PC Setup, and installed a couple games, finally got round to doing COD4, and there is problems. When i insert the disc in the drive, it spins up, and the disc icon comes up next to my pointer, but thats it, i open my computer, and nothing is detected in the Drive, and when i try and open the drive, it freezes explorer. Disc works as it was installed on my previous PC, and i used it with a friends serial to get him on the latest version quickly, just wont open. The Drive is fine aswell, installed FC2, DoW2 and Orange Box with it. Any Idea's?
Try going into your sound playback settings, go to speaker properties and then advanced tab and set the quality to 44100khz (iirc). I can't remember whether this was cod5 or 4, tbh, but it cured the game launching problem I had.
I'm sure I've had this. Although you'd usually get a CRC error, try giving the DVD a good clean to see if that helps. It may be having trouble reading the data as the files are quite large individually. Kenco - I'll have to try your note as I've had launcher problems on this for ages!
The Disc also has the same problem in my MacBook Pro when booted into XP, but the MBP recognizes it as COD4, but still cant load the disc, access the disc in anyway. got a .cdr copy i made in OS X, gonna see about converting it to .iso so i can mount it with a virtual drive.
Manages to mount the .cdr copy, and its now installing, so the disc must be fine, it just doesnt read in XP at all....
