So every morning, I get myself a cappuccino with an extra shot, from the local Italian Coffee bar round the corner from my office. Its strong, and its delicious, and it tastes like coffee. (No Sugar obvs) Anyway, this morning, one of the secretaries walked to my desk, and announced that Starbucks had gotten her order wrong, so she had a coffee going spare. Having been here since half 5, obviously I said yes. I have now tried a Starbucks Grande Nonfat Vanilla Latte, and i have one question..: What the **** is this? This isn't coffee. Its milk with some sugar syrup in it, and I can literally feeling my teeth falling out. How on earth to people drink these every day and not end up looking like a land whale?! If you don't like the taste of coffee, and want to mask it with other flavours/sugar, thats fine, but DONT CALL IT COFFEE. **Rant Over**
I grind my own beans and make coffee myself using a machine. I cannot stand Starbucks coffee, I've tried their coffee at home by buying some of their beans from my local Starbucks - it's inferior coffee. It's the kind of £1 crap you get from a supermarket.
After cancer throat treatment I have little in the way of taste buds left and have discovered all coffee, be it expensive or cheap, tastes the same, I need 4 teaspoons of sugar to make it palatable. oddly I still like to drink several cups of it per day?
Coffee is actually supposed to be good for you. It's a source of fiber, reduces risk of Type 2 Diabetes and Alzheimer's. Coffee drinkers are less likely to suffer depression and it's supposed to help reduce the risk of heart disease. Even if it doesn't taste like much, drinking a few cups a day is hardly bad for you. Maybe cut some sugar and switch to a substitute, though. No matter what people say, Sugar substitutes are safe and have endured decades of studies without any proof they have negative side effects.
They heap sugar in because its terrible coffee, if I'm out an need a coffee an I'm out its either go to my local bike shop who use Union coffee which is rather nice. Or amusingly McDonalds black coffee is passable
Firstly Mcdonalds coffee be it black or white is and always has been disgusting stuff to me, even more so with my taste bud issues, but I disliked it before also. As for sugar substitutes unfortunately they do not work for me at all it is sugar or no coffee.
Maybe look into getting a machine for yourself and try some selections of different coffee. Nearly every coffee chain, starbucks, costa, even small independant cafes use cheap coffee designed to maximise profit. I haven't drunk a coffee from a shop in years, because I know they're just awful compared to what I have at home.
Black coffee for me, with a spoon of dark dark muscovado sugar for that morning sugar rush rather than to disguise the taste. After trying 101+ beans, roasts and grinds I found the coffee I like best to be Tesco own brand French blend ground coffee. Discovered it totally blind and by luck after being served it at a B&B
Still trying to find a flat white as good as the ones in NZ. Kiwis do coffee really well in that you can find a cracking drink even at petrol stations.
I like my coffee how I like my men...black.....haaaaaaaaaaaa But, if it's not a hot black with half sugar I have a guilty please for a Java chip Frapachino on a hot day, I have them on cold days but usually regret it shivering. Some of the coffee options baffle me, barely any coffee and all sugar and milk, each to there own I guess
You drank a Starbucks Grande Nonfat Vanilla Latte, and you were expecting coffee? I think we're homing in on the actual problem here.
Ok, so perhaps somewhat naively, yes, i kinda did? I assumed a "coffee" would have coffee in it. And hey! Im a regular man of the people! I buy my pants and socks in M&S and everything!
Oddly I went into an independent coffee shop whilst waiting for my good lady and thoroughly enjoyed what I had which I think was called a latte. I have never been into a Starbucks or in fact any 'coffee' shop apart from the one time as mentioned above
To be fair "latte" should have given it away what with it being primarily milk. I suspect the vanilla helped hide what little coffee there was in the cup. I personally like a double macchiato - a double espresso that is stained with a small amount of milk. Not from Starbucks though as I believe their macchiato is actually a latte macchiato and not a caffe macchiato.
