Hey guys just built a intel quad core system for rendering work on 3ds max. Built the system booted it up and no problems. Pc worked fine for like 3hrs turned it off turned it on about 30mins later and Cold boot failed reset the pc and then it worked. CPU is working fine ram is fine and when pc is working I can use it for hours on end at full load with no issues so It cant be a loose cable or a hardware issue. Only thing I can think of is that the 480watt psu cant supply the needed output voltage to get to post and ends up with a no signal issue. It boots though when I try again. Its a strange issue I havent come across before. Iv ordered a new 600watt psu incase the quad was using up to much power but could it be anything else? Like I mentioned it runs full load when the system works and all hardware seems fine so Its only on cold boot and its not overclocked so not a freqency issue. Listed Haraware below. psu tagan esay con 480watt intel quad core q6600 @ 2.4ghz asrock conroe mobo the one that uses agp slot fire gl x2 agp gfx 2 gb 4 stick of corsair ddr 400 (needed for 1066fsb) 40gb hd spinpoint samsung sata Hopefully the new psu will fix things but please make any suggestions. Its annoying when it doesnt boot first time as there must be something wrong. Thanks.
*UPDATE* Tested a 600watt psu still had same issues so put my old tagan back in. Cold boot issue or well atleast booting seems fine now since Iv put all the cables back in but Iv been having new issues. Pc will now randomly reboot for no reason and sometime sI get blue screens but always based on something different. Most common is. Page_Fault_In_Nonpaged_Area 0x00000050 Did some anti virus checks adware etc and overall system maint and upfated gfx drivers and so fare so good but im 100% sure its going to happen again. Quad core temp is 35c and not oced so its not a heat issue. HDD is running fine right now and 2gb or ram is showing on system and cpu sems perfectly fine. I just dont understand why its been rebooting and why it takes so long for it to happen. Surely if it was serious or something wasnt working it just wouldnt boot or do it everytime straight away. Really need your help if anyone has any ideas as its really frustrating. Im using a ConRoe asrock 865PE mobo with a quad core Q6600 with the fsb set for 1066 and im using 4 stick sof pc3200 ddr 400 ram as it suggested to use with 1066 setting. These run at 200mhz each is that correct guessing it is as bios says ddr 400 next to each. All ram is the same everything looks seated well and cables are in tight and processes wise it a clean install of xp with no strave programs etc. Just want my system to not reboot randomly hope someone can help. samsung spin point 40gb HD sata Fire gl 256 x2 gfx ram corsair pc3200 xmslpt ddr 400 512mb x 4
