I was wondering if it would be possible to add a capacitor in-line with one of the power wires of the cold cathode to add a fade on/off effect. :D

If this could be done does any one have an idea of what capacitor to use? :eyebrow:

you would prolly need about a .25 farad cap.. just like caps that are used in car systems.. i paid 90bux (us) for my 1 farad harrison labs cap.. their really not that cheap..

Ummm I don’t think one of them is what I'm looking for, they are used to supply quick bursts of power and I'm looking for a slow release.

I am not sure you'd want a capasitor to do this, a capasitor sort of smothes out current, by storing energy and releasing it all at once

I am not sure what you could use, but a capasitor probibly wouldn't work for that application.

200 posts! I'm on my way to the top :hehe:

Actualy, no ideas at the present.

Doesn't a cc take a ceartan voltage to turn on? I know close to nothing about ccs, but I do know that you could do this with a neon (as someone kindly showed us with his 5v instead of 12v problem!).

Linear, dude, this is right in your court!
