I would also agree, that's probably my strongest memory from playing the game, was the literal hours you could spend waiting for it to download gigabytes worth of patches and install them
My favorite strategy game!! I cannot wait for this. To all of those that have not played it; it is worth it, the game-play and effects are awesome and the graphics still look good now!!
The graphics look good if you don't zoom all the way in you mean I spent a long time recently playing the Men of War series as a newer alternative to CoH and really enjoyed them, but CoH copes far better with squad control and hence sheer battlefield scope. However, CoH tanks are still flawed, and I hope they implement a proper damage system (ie: it should be possible to "brew up" a tank if hit from the right angle with a single AP round, but infantry weapons will at best blow off a track or immobilise the turret).
Brew up!? I do agree to a point, however tanks need to have some survivability otherwise one shot kills would impact on the games enjoyment. It is always a balance between realism and fun.
yeah we all have to get it, and have some real good comp stomp matches had some pretty spectacular matches with folks from here
it DOES take a while ( a few hours tbh ) can get rather annoying, but i didnt mind to much i just picked up a different ( non internet ) game
In part, yes (at the time I was sub 1 MB) and also there was a very strict order of patching that if you messed up you had to start again. It was a while ago now, but I remember that it was a complete pain. I got them all for a few quid on Steam which seemed much better value for money than a couple of hours of my time.
£17 is quite a difference for all the games, there are not that many patches for the Anthology. Go retail, if you have a semi decent connection it won't take long. That or wait for it to be on sale on Steam to avoid the premium.
Am I not right in thinking that you only need one version of the game installed and you can play all the expansions? I usually just download opposing fronts from steam and I can play the content from my retail copies too
if you have Tales of Talor then have access to everything multiplayer-wise. You will have to buy opposing fronts and the first instalment if you want their respective campaign missions. If you are asking about which copy to launch then it all boils down to what games are attached to your relic-online account.
Brewing up is the term for a tank catching fire They do need survivability, which is why infantry weapons, even sticky bombs, should only blow off a tread or immobilise the turret, which can be engineer fixed. However, if hit by an AP round from the back there should at least be a chance of a one-hit kill. This will lead to a) proper use of tank tactics and b) less tank mobbing towards end-game.
Couldn't agree more. I mean, I'm no expert in tank physics, Playing earlier on I had two Hellfires chasing down a Panzer which was retreating. It was face on, I got off at least seven or eight rounds and every single one of them bounced! I was gutted, especially when they both died. Also, I'm going playing CoH!
gonna have to set up some comp stomp games again soon to get back into the game oh wait i play it a few times a week even still a few games would be cool
I'm always up for a game (Just been comp stomping now ). Has anyone ever played an enemy 1 on 1 with them on Expert? I'm too scared to try it!
