This might not be in the right area, so move if need be. Does any one no of the pinout of the compaq psu. It is in a P2 Deskpro, and looks like a pin deprived atx connector. I E 14 pins instead of 20. The reason i suspect is an atx at heart is it has a power switch attached to the motherboard, on a header with Power and hdd leds, and the speaker. I am trying to fit an old atx psu to this p2 400, for a cheap mp3 player.
I have a Compaq PII Deskpro just on my desk. The motherboard is CR120 (look at lower left) and it uses an ATX PSU.
OK, i missed one (very important) detail. Its a Small form factor. Read small, nasty, unstandard psu, slim CD rom, and funny mother board. The expansion slots are on a riser card. The Marking on it is a "p2 system board". If there are more markings can some one tell me where to find them relative to a component. IE the CPU socket. The PSU went audible pop, so if someone tells me how to safely discharge it, i might go inside and see what went wrong. I cant do the normal turn the power switch off, unplug the power cord, and try turn on again. So any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Compaq, now HP, has an extensive database of online pdf manuals including service manuals that will show the pinout of your PSU. It is a bit of a hassle to get around on their website, and some of it is being worked on, so may be down. Here is a link to the Deskpro EN maunuals.link
Thankyou, i have done that, and got the pinout. Now ill just mod a standard power supply to go in there. I may chech later on, when the psu arrives, for some information regarding the atx connector, because all but one of them match up, ad can not figure out which one to use, and dont have enough computers / power supplys to find out by trial and error
