Managed to put the new block in tonight: theres a VGA block to come so and I definitely go the outlet tube lenght wrong (no I have no idea what I was thinking of so expect another installment. Oh and I forgot II'd never mentioned the fan shround. (and spot the ex-frontx headphone port). Haven't seriously looked at temps yet but looked like they might work out better, however I didn't have long enough to get it up to speed.
Nice rig you've got there. I wonder what it looks like under all those cables Seriously, get some zip ties and clean that sucker up. It probably won't help your temps, but it will make your life SO much easier when working inside the case.
There's no more than 1 splitter in there (any I can't think quite why - probably to reach something or other) in there but one or two lines for the relay and other bits. I do tidy up from time to time but cable tying only works if you're not planning to add something new soon. The LCD arrives today and then there's three more audio lines to put in. It will only really calm down if I replace the pump/res which takes up a lot of room and is in the way a bit. However that's a whole new project.
WEll now if you look carfully at the previous pics, can you spot the stupid mistake? I actually connected the outlets to the pump and the centre line to the drain No matter, as I had a bit of work to do: Alas I spilt a lot of water in the process so temps yet. however the tubing is a bit tidier than before. Do you recon six days is long enough for it to dry out? (I'm away for a bit).
Bit of a forward planning problem here? C'mon, dude, just sit yourself down with a cup of tea, look at the case and... do nothing. Just plan. And plan again. Turn the whole thing upside down if you have to, so it'll help you get new insights. But don't do anthing until you feel you have planned all the angles (wiring as well as WC tubing).
There is planning, but the plan is for fairly continual changes for the foreseeable future. If I try and tie down the wiring atm, I'll just be cutting them loose again pretty soon. The tubing isn't too bad atm, though it is all due for a change soon. The real problem is the pump/res, needed as the pump had an air leak, but it is taking up way too much room in the case. The planned changes are: One Mike and two more headphone lines with cutout and rear port - I want to get the Zalman surround sound headphones and be able to plug them in at the front. The first is the grey 4-way cable snaking around the bottom of the case. Replace pump with an alphacool DC pump (with 12/24V step-up transformer) Replace res with Fass-O-Matic in the top of the case (I like the Aquatube but this is 1/4BSP thread) as I have a handy 92mm fan hole up there. Run twin lines back to the res from the waterblock and loose the Y-piece. Fit my old Aquarius rad in the rear fan slot (as it once was) but with 8mm pushfits. Install an AC Twinplex NB block (the only one that works properly with Intel chipset mounting hoops Get the aux loop running with the old Aquarius DC pump, using the final two res holes. Buy and set up this kit to monitor lots of temps and the pump voltage (yes I'll have to write some code to do anything with it). Set up my DIY version of The Aopen DrLED thingy (I have the parts and schematic) Build a new front Bezel and tidy up! I may be some time..... and theat a whole load more cabels and tubes. I'll try to make it as tidy as possible, but it's not in its nature to be too sparse.
WOW.........Risky your PC is giving me nightmares man........ the cables are coming to get me arrrrrrr I think i would be tempted to take everything out and start afresh taking all your new idea's into account. I know its different when its your own project and you know where everything is and goes but it would be so much easier to work on if you get first of all cable management sorted then the water side will be much easier to work on. I agree with Nexxo, stick the kettle on and do a bit of forward planning............it really does go a long way to a good clean end result making life much easier in the long run. Good luck with it though and keep us up to date with any progress!
