Hey, I have decided to build my own computer with a budget of £1200. The following components are what I have researched and chosen. Before I order I would appreciate some advice as I'm a little worried I might end up ordering something thats rubbish or isn't compatible.

    Motherboard
    Asus P6X58D-E Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard [90-MIBD80-G0EAY00Z]

    CPU
    Intel Core i7 930 2.80GHz (Bloomfield) (Socket LGA1366) - Retail [BX80601930]

    CPU Cooler
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus (Socket AM2/AM2+/AM3/775/1156/1366) [RR-B10-212P-GP]

    Memory
    Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 12800C9 1600MHz Triple Channel (CMX6GX3M3A1600C9) [CMX6GX3M3A1600C9]

    GPU
    Asus GeForce GTX 470 V2 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with MAFIA 2 [ENGTX470/2DI/1280MD5/V2]

    Hard Drive
    Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (WD1002FAEX)

    Optical Drive
    LG CH10LS20 10x BluRay-ROM / 16x DVD±RW Drive - Black (Retail)

    PSU
    Corsair 850W TX Series PSU - 140mm Fan - 5 Year Warranty

    OS
    Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit - OEM (GFC-00599) [GFC-00599]

    Case
Coolermaster HAF 922 Mid Tower Case - Black
    or
Coolermaster HAF 922 Case with Window - Black [RC-922M-KWN1-GP]
Not sure which yet, can't find a review of the case with a window so I'm worried about over heating problems.

I am wanting to overclock at some point but nothing extreme.

Would you go with Asus for the GPU?

The motherboard is an ATX so should fit in the case, just thought I'd check if there would be any problems?

Is LG a good brand for an optical drive

I cant seem to find if the memory is compatible with the motherboard, any ideas?

In general is this the best build in terms of power and performance for £1200?

    Thanks for any advice.

The GTX 470 is due to be EOL'd soon I think... could impact you if you ever wanted to SLI.

Not sure there will be a noticeable difference in most games to the GTX 460. I have the Gainward GLH model, which I am really pleased with.

Not sure about the HAF 922, but my HAF 932 kept my feet nice and cold under the desk this summer. Though most everyone on here will tell you it's a hideously ugly case...

I have the same Blu-Ray drive as you're planning to buy, it's decent, loads movies quickly and it's build quality is quite good. Looks good with a black case too :)

Drop processor to the 860 1156 platform

    Get a 5870

Be much better in games for the cash

below is around £1100 including vat and will deliver much better frame rates in games than the pc you have specced

the only way a 930 system makes sence at this minute is if you need it for photo shop work, if all you do is game then its truly a waste of money if you have to downgrade the graphics to get the system. and the 470 is a shadow competitor vs the 5870 you could have you could even sli 460s for the cost and it would blow away any 930 system with the 470 as its main gpu

    hope this helps

you could also follow bit techs guide for there 860 system

i made this outta personal preference and dropped the soundcard as i can live with onboard sound,

theres works out as around £100 cheaper but lacks sli and crossfire upgradability. mine is add the card and away you go. your choice in the end of the day

460 slis for the maths is around £1200 total system and ask people on here what they would rather have

    860 and 460slis

or 930 with 470 gpu and you will get a 1 sided responce hope this helps
