Is anyone completed this course or in the process of doing so, I myself am in my second week and was just wondering if anyone got any good jobs with the certificate. I am quite enjoying it though, I do know most of the stuff but I am learning about Binary, Decimal, & Hexadecimal which is very interesting.

The course lasts about 25 weeks and I might take the Network+ and i also believe there is a Linux one that i could do, which once I've completed i would take either the MSCE or the CISCO qualification.

    yes and yes :)

I got my A+ back in 2001. I've got a job at a corporation doing pretty much everything. Server maintenance, AD maintenance, backups, license server, client installation/troubleshooting. lotsa fun :D

I've completed the coursework for my MCSE w/ security, I'm just going thru the process of taking the tests.

I feel that it is mainly used in the states rather than in the UK even though its a universal qualification.

that is possible, i've not looked at the market in the UK for CompTIA certs, but in the scheme of things they're pretty entry level certs. They're a good starting point. I don't see why they wouldn't be recognized in the UK, CompTIA is an alliance between a lot of large corps like Microsoft, Cisco, etc. whose products are used widely everywhere :)

I don't mean that it's not recognized in the UK, i mean to say that it's not as widely known, though i do not know I'm only assuming.

A+ isn't really something that will guarentee you a job but rather help plant your foot in the door to keep them from closing it.

TBH in the UK qualifications like Oracle OCA/OCP, MCSE/MCSA (even MCP) are looked upon far more favourably by employers. Above all experienece is the one thing they all want. The easiest starting point is to get a basic IT job, ie computer operator etc & after 6 months or so look for an internal position in IT support etc. If nothing comes up put your CV out to all the agency's you can. Swapping between different jobs can help build your salary.
I thought about doing the CompTIA A+, but most employers didn't even know what it is!
