3 years ago I began to open my case and i stuck 4 fingers in the back of the side panel where it bends 90 Degrees and then you can put screws in.... Anyway I forgot it was metal and I took my hand and quickly slid it top to bottom down the back of the side panel, I neatly cut the insides of all 4 fingers at the first joint. It was my right hand too. Ouch! Later (last summer) I was helping junk a ton of old AT computer cases, and I was sliding them accross the room to another person. One of the cases slipped on my finger and it slid front to back on it, cutting it quite deeply. I was so pissed I picked up the case and threw it accross the room. LOL!
I got lost of wounds going from overexposure to tools... Between blisters from screwdrivers and soldering hands as I call em, I have had bits of metal in my eye, plastic too, and wood..I have cut my fingers ofpen on many ocasions on old cases. i have drilled through plastic to nick my finger. just yesterday i was making a plate to install switches on my case and i almost drilled through my finger.. I have burned myself on irons, hot dremel bits, torches and thats the stuff I remember I have more battle scars than an old sherman tank but I keep on going lerning from my mistakes...
One day at school I was cutting pipe to put network cable in and the next thing you know I cut my finger. The scar is about an inch long and I had about 7 stitches. I didn’t even fill anything, but blood was gushing like no other. The sad thing is that there are still some blood stains on the floor at school where this happened, the janitors must do a pitiful job.
does slipping when modding a case and having a drill bit drive halfway into your left palm count? other than that just the usual cuts etc. but they doesn't really bother me much, i managed to slice half a centimeter of thumb clean off on a cold meat slicer when i was 15 (i was a butchers assistant), all that's left to show for it 6 years later is a tiny little white scar, my thumb just kinda grew back
cd drive breaks nose i've had a few cuts and scratches but my best by far has got to be when i was building my first computer. i couldn't get the cd drive to slide through where the blanking plate had been, so i pushed it from behind and looked from the front to see if it was stuck on anything. needless to say this wasn't the best idea i've ever had. the cd drive shot straight through the drive bay and broke my nose. blood everywhere.
I don't know if pissed off neighbors counts, but at my old apartment complex i was cutting a window in my case and i was doing it out on my balcony and i lived on the 3rd floor(cant seem to get off the 3rd floor) and I was using my shiney new dremel, needless to say i got yelled at numerous times by the folks below me. I never got any permanant scars or anything but i've gotten numerous cuts. Like I was working on this little piece of crap Toshiba, this pc was about the size of a small set top dvd player, well while i was disassembling it i never felt my fingers getting cut, but the inside of the computer started turning real red, blood red even, i looked down to notice several deep cuts in several of my fingers.
i have luckily never been cut or hurt in any way while working on a computer. /me knocks on wood the closest i ever came was i got bored in an electronic class one day and started playing with my variable 0V-35V DC power supply and found an old 120mm fan in my bag of spare parts. stripped the end off of the fan, plugged it up to the power supply and slowly started cranking up the voltage. when it hit 36V the fan was hovering above the table and was terribly loud. stuck my finger in it for the sheer heck of it and not even a scrape. hurt like hell and broke the fan but didn't ever scratch or anything.... lucky me. i'd also sit there and hook pieces of pencil lead up to the alligator clips and turn the ps on....makes nice little flame and sparks.
I've only had a few cuts, all from a switchblade I use for modding. I've never cut myself on crappy cases.
I've had a few accidents. I've been burned from a dremel. The wheel chipped off when it was hot and landed on my finger. Had a 1/2 inch blister. I also got a bruse from taking the side panel off. Pryed too hard and hit my arm against the table. I was also drilling when it slipped and started drilling my hand. Nice and painful. The worst was when I was cutting AWAY from myself with a razor blade, slipped, and went into my thumb. I was .3 cm away from the center/bone. Believe me, we measured (debate whether or not to go to hospital).
I sliced a finger open on a vantec stealth 120mm. I didn't think the blades would be that sharp... oh well. Since moving to LL cases it's only the fans that are a problem. And of course general stupidity with tools and whatnot. You know... coughing up a black loogie from the aluminum dust. After a few of those I finally bought a resiprator
lol this happens to me all the time. i call it my "project wound" because every time i do a project i get cut. only once though. but my mom will come in and be like " OMG, your BLEEDING!" and im like " it doesnt matter, thats just my project cut" so i usugually bandage it with a paper towel and some duct tape.
i dont know about you guys but i always smash/cut/jam my knuckles when pulling out molex connectors from opital drives
I assume this could have happened to other people, but a lot of times when I'm pulling out PCI cards that are close to each other, and they are opposed to coming out easily, I slice my hand on another PCI card once it does finally give. The soldered leads on the back of PCI cards are quite sharp....
i was quite happy with this one a rotozip caught the end of my finger and zipped itself around it a few times
omg i know! why the hell dont they make them fit looser so they come out?!? i allways do that. nice finger mister tad btw.
Last week, while desoldering capacitors (darn them) to play with, i slipped with the soldering iron, adn for like 1/1000th of a second it touched my finger, yet left a 1/8" hole in my finger when the callous fell (i pulled it) off.
