hmm, i have had too many injuries to count. my best would have to have been earlier this year when i was assembling a friends pc, couldnt find the screwdriver so i used a spacefiller for leverage on the fromt of the dvd burner. my hand slipped and i didnt realise that there was a gash across the fromt until the top of the drive was red. luckily i didnt get any near the other parts of the pc.

Let's see... well, I was making some S-Video converter cables one day and the razor I was using slipped and went almost all the way through my left ring finger. Ow. Few weeks later, on christmas, my dad was opening a stereo box with a razor almost completely extended and he slipped. Went all the way into his leg. That must have hurt.

Another time, I wasn't really hurt, but I was scared shitless. I was helping my friend build a PC and the only place we could build was on a carpet... I went to boot it up one time and forgot to ground myself and the case on a lightswitch beforehand and the PSU went FWOOOOM! and exploded everywhere. God, that was great though. He got it replaced for free.

    Id like to see that!
I was working on my newest case mod today and tore my hands up pretty good. One minute im cutting a piece off the HDD rack, next I look down and my fingers are bloody. I mustve sliced my finger on it or something.

lol.. i was working at RM - a computer company that makes all the computers for school etc..
Well whilst i was cutting a box to put all the pc parts onto a shelf for the works.. i slipped with the knife..
i left an inch and half cut on the inside of my left hand..
I hadnt realied cause it didnt hurt..when i cut myself i didnt think much of it.. cause it didnt hurt
but working in that sort of enviroment u wanna keep it clean.. so wondered off to the toilets....
Ran cold water onto it.. and it just suddenly started pumpin blood.

In the end had to have tests to see if i could feel sensation and hadnt cut through the nerves. was lucky!

I've only ever had a few cuts here and there. The worst thing that happened to me didn't leave a scar, but rather a nice little lesson to learn from. I was messing with an open power supply and ended up shocking myself. Needless to say it wasn't the best experience. It didn't hurt much, shocked me (no pun intended) more than anything else.

Well, I've had many an injury but I can only think of two at the moment.

    1. I was sanding down a case ready for painting; well while I was doing it I sanded my knuckle. Well didn't hurt that much but the skin over it had never healed perfectly

    2. I needed to make a network cable and couldn't find my crimpers. So I was looking round and found them under a piece of paper. I picked them up and the two Stanley blade sort of things that are designed to cut into the network cable clamped down into my finger. Bled for ages, wait it was about and hour ago and it's still bleeding :duh: Hmmm, that’s what’s that locking thing on it's for. Any way I still made the network cable, missing the use of one of my fingers.

Not two days ago I was squirting hot glue in the top of a switch plate and of course it oozed out the bottom onto my palm, got a couple of nice blisters. Yesterday I was screwing a new disk on the dremel with a long, thin screwdriver. Of course it slipped off... Went right into my index fingertip and out the side next to the nail. I said many bad words...

it was a 9V battery but once connected to the small inverter unit the final output was about 500v

I got the nastiest cuts ever at RM - and we weren't even allowed near the box cutters.

You'd be amazed just how abrasive PCB edges can get when you're handling hundreds of DIMMs, motherboards and add-in cards every day. I've not been there in months and I still have grooves worn in the epidermis of my index fingers :blah:

Oh, and steel cases without rolled edges that require major internal surgery to remove the fronts of (Antec Sonata, I'm looking at you) are evil.

I was going to bin a I/O plate that came with a cheap case because it didn't fit the mobo, but I was absent-mindedly bending it in half with a fair amount of force. Long story short, I slipped while bending it (by this point the thin metal had partially snapped) and it made about a 5mm cut into my middle finger.

My finger was fine after 10 minutes of paper towels and swearing, but damn that was a nasty mess to clean off the carpet :sigh:

I did the same thing with a ccfl inverter. It does tingle quite a bit and the smell of burning flesh is awful.

Been zapped by a ccfl inverter once, and the switch off an at powersupply (not quite sure how that happened). And then theres the normal cuts from cheap cases (so thats why my freind recomended that I buy a decent case). I dont think iv ever had a cut from a pcb.

Back when I had a midi tower the molex on the HDD was really stiff (as it was new) and due to the effort i was putting into removing it, when it came out my hand flew backwards and I scraped (think potato peeler) about 3" of skin off the top of my hand on the motherboard. After yelling for a bit, I had to go back and find the bits of skin that had been removed which was not pleasant as I'm sure you can imagine :s.

Once I was trimming a power lead using a stanley knife (brand new blade) as I could not be arsed to get the wirestrppiers from the toolbox. Anyway decided to use the nearest surface to cut on, my leg. Of course under pressure the knife slipped and about 2"inches" of blade disappeared into my leg. Pulled it out but was followed with freeflowing blood, about a gallon I think, enough to fill my jeans and 8 hole DM's. Mum and dad made me go to hospital but I had to drive myself and the cut was just above the knee so everytime I braked more blood gushed out. Made a right mess of the car.

i have had more cuts and scrapes from cheapos than i can count. the best would be when I was helping a friend put a window in his case. i didn't cut myself when we cut the window or the plexi or installing the plexi but after wards when i sat down. the piece of case we cut out had fallen in between the cushions of the couch pointy side up. I sat on it and it sliced through my pants and left a nice 4 inch long gash on my ass. I winced everytime i sat down for like 2 weeks. :duh:

Aside from the plethora of cuts n stuff from cases (I too am a tech), the worst I ever did was reach round the back of the case (some of you know what's coming :duh: ), to flip the PSU switch, and then proceed to jam two fingers in my 190CFM 120mm Delta (Removed the Cheesegrater)... I said many, many bad words (I love Police Acedemy), then calmy & Methodically removed said offending Delta, and smashed the s**t out of it with a 14lb Lumphammer...

    Me=1, Delta= Temporary victory...

Physical damage? 6 Stitches and Two fingers numb at the tip... We really love Permanent nerve damage, don't we...

And I'm planning on buying a 300CFM fan? Better dig out my chain-mail gloves from working at the abbatoir then...
