So im a lil more experienced on the networking side rather than the actually hardware but i have tried everything i know to do from unplugging and replugging, uninstalling and reinstalling, using the internet and the cd it came with... etc. I have tried every usb port on my computer as well as plugging a thumb drive in to make sure the port works and my computer never detects that the camera is there. I have another webcam that lights up as if its getting power but the computer still doesnt detect it either. the camera that lights up is an older one that has worked on this computer before and the other is brand new as of yesterday.

    Fascinating...
What is your webcam. Sounds like a 8$ webcam or a really really really old one with no Windows 7 drivers.

What does Device Manager says when the webcam is plug-in. DO you have any yellow exclamation mark anywhere in the device manager?
