I have a 6 months old computer who began freezing and BSoDing on me. The problem started a couple of weeks ago and progressed to the point where doing certain things became impossible. The crashing/freezing happens when I play video files or when gaming. Most of the time, the computer just stops responding and I'm forced to manually reset. Occasionally, it will display a BSoD with varying info, but they all share the same problem file. I do not have Symbols package, so I cannot read most of the minidump. However, here's an excerpt from the latest two dumps: Unable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\ntoskrnl.exe, Win32 error 0n2 *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for ntoskrnl.exe Windows 7 Kernel Version 7600 MP (2 procs) Free x64 Product: WinNt, suite: TerminalServer SingleUserTS Personal Built by: 7600.16539.amd64fre.win7_gdr.100226-1909 Machine Name: Kernel base = 0xfffff800`02e62000 PsLoadedModuleList = 0xfffff800`0309fe50 Debug session time: Sat Jun 26 00:21:56.896 2010 (UTC - 6:00) System Uptime: 0 days 0:49:50.316 BugCheck 1E, {0, 0, 0, 0} *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for hal.dll *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for hal.dll ***** Kernel symbols are WRONG. The temp seems to be within reasonable range, with CPU ranging from 36 degrees when Idle, up to mid 40s when not. GPU ranges between 40 and 50. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling various versions and variations of the GPU drivers, but that did not seem to make a difference. Now I'm torn between problems in the video card itself, or the PSU not supplying enough power. I have a 500 Watt PSU, which should be enough to power the system. But the video card recommends a 24 amp 12v rail, and mine only supplies 18a. Specs: AMD Athlon II 250 Geforce GTS 250 512 MB G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 MSI 770-c45 OCZ ModXStream Pro 500W I'd be eternally grateful if someone can help me fix the problem.
Isn't that a driver issue? think i had something like dis before.roll back all you drivers, especially video card drivers
Like I said before, I've tried everything as far as drivers are concerned. I rolled back, I tried drivers from different publishers, I tried newest drivers from nvidia. Update: I underclocked the RAM by changing the Delay from Auto to 2T and the Ratio to 1:2. I ran a video game for about an hour afterwards, until it crashed. I was barely able to play for 10 minutes prior to the change. It could possibly be a coincidence, or it could actually have had an effect. I hope this helps someone find the problem so that I can eliminate it.
I have managed to fix the problem. Thought I'd leave some info for those with the same problem. It appears that I've been using the memory at lower voltage than what it required (the default 1.5 for AMD MBs, as opposed to the 1.65 for these "intel-optimized" RAM). Upon increasing the voltage to 1.62, and reducing the RAM frequency slightly, the problem resolved itself. I have been running videos and games for several hours without issues.
