I have installed a new video card-Radeon 9550 and a new hard drive on which I have loaded Windows XP SP2. Now the computer keeps shutting down and restarting. I have checked that I have the latest drivers. Any ideas on what might be causing it? On restarting I get the message that the system has recovered from a serious error.

What PSU do you have? It might not be able to handle the new hardware

Take it out of the case and look. Write down the Make/Model and the wattage. :)

PSU = Power Supply Unit. The big box at the upper back of your tower (usually).

They all should have a sticker on them w/ make/model/wattage.

There are online calculators that you can enter all your comp. equipment into and get a total wattage used number. Your PSU obviously has to output at least that much wattage.
