I am currently designing a micro-controller computer. I see there is a 100uF electrolytic capacitor between the 0V and 6V lines. Why is this here? Is it nessesary? and Can I use This Cap.
i have no idea what on earth are you wanna tell us about?? ( Sorry!! ) i know what are you saying! if you want to make any pre-chip or microcontroller with a world wired wires i'll prefer CircuitMaker Student Edition Software 2000 thx n it is a good idea by the way why are you wanna know this?
Its there to smooth out ripples and spikes in the supply; when the microcontroller switches something on or its current requirements change suddenly it happens too quickly for the regulator to react so the current comes from this capacitor which is then recharged by the regulator. Moriquendi
I'd heard Radio Shack ripped you off, but that takes the biscuit. 10 cents at Futurlec and most other online places. Even rip-off Maplin only charge 12p (about 23c).
less then one cent each when you get 1/4 watt carbon resistors in bulk ( like 10k pcs) and radio shack sells them for $.25 each or so... yeah they make a killing...
