Hey everybody! I'm spending a term abroad in Japan (near Osaka) and am wondering if anyone knows anything about the computer market here. Any help would be appreciated. I guess my main question is if there is a website like Pricewatch.com for asia or Japan?

I've no idea. I've got links to a few sites in the far east, if you want em (not strictly japanese). Also, would you perhaps be interested in helping me out with a little Nipponese bargain hunting?

Thanks Kevo. But where is Akiba? I am totaly new to Japan.
I have seen one computer store in town and yes they have nifty gadgets
and teeny-tiny laptops but I'm just looking to upgrade my MoBo and RAM.
If I do find a Mecca of cheap hardware I'll let yall know.

LMFAO. You posting reminds me of Mr Baseball. A film in which Tom Selleck plays a baseball player who is bought by a Japanese team.
On arriving for tryouts, he asks the ladeez present 'Would you like to ride my moustache?'

    :hehe: :hehe: :hehe:

I'll try to post some pics but my computer hasn't been shipped here yet.
Also, I don't have anywhere to put pics. I need a picture server.

You'd better not get anything really cool over there and not let me get one damn it. Have you gone over to Taiwan yet to check out their market?

BTW, about time you posted again.

Where to buy from in Japan.

I'm in Okinawa for the next 9 months. I've looked locally and the only parts that are cheaper to get locally are monitors, due to the shipping costs.

I have built several systems for collegues and I buy most of my parts from www.NewEgg.com. It normally takes about a week to get the parts here and the prices can't be beaten.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Derek! I thought that it might turn out that way.
Oh well. Guess all I really need to be functional is a monitor anyway.
I was really hoping to be able to upgrade but
I can wait till the kt400 and XP 2600 come down in price.

By the way, why are you in Okinawa? Student, or military?
