I'm having the same exact problem with both my desktops. Both times it randomly happened without me changing anything. When I press the power button, the fans and lights turn on but there is no picture on the monitor. Ive tested the monitor on my laptop and it works. I just replaced both psus with enermax 600w's  but it still doesnt work (psu's needed to be replaced anyway, it wasnt just because of this). On one computer, I've tried two different mobos and cpus as well. Neither computer emits any post beeps of any kind. The hardware is:

    Computer 1:
    Gigabyte GA-8ANXP-D
    Sapphire x850xt
    Intel Prescott 3.4
    2x 512mb ocz
    WD raptor 74

    Computer 2:
Asus p4p800-e Deluxe (also tried with an Intel board)
    eVGA 5700 LE
    p4 3 GHz (also tried an old p4 2.4)
    2x 512 MB Kingston ValueRam
    WD Raptor 74

Any chance there was a power surge that could have done some damage?

(All I could think of, considering that the monitor worked on a laptop)

Wait: Are you using a KMV switch? If so remove it and try with just one PC connected at a time.

compTIA would tell you to try a diferrient outlet. Id look at the cmos, thers a posibility that youv got some whacked settings. Id also look at temperature of the rooms, its quite possible that its too hot in the room for the PCs to operate so they falter. if you have a PC speaker check for the POST beeps for any irregularities.

When you have no display, the first thing to do is cycle the num-lock key and see if the numlock LED cycles as well. If it doesn't cycle, you are hung and it is probably a serious thing like memory/cpu/mobo. If it does cycle you are probably looking at something less serious like a video card issue.

I like the idea of trying new power outlets - well did this always happen or maybe start after you moved? Your power in that place just might be very 'dirty'.

Since its a laptop its not going to be any bit helpful for this situation.

I had the same symptoms when my Asus A7N8X Deluxe got killed; Im guessing that something went wrong in the power supplies (internally), potentially killing your motherboard. My CPU and RAM survived, so the first thing I would try is putting the CPU and RAM in a different motherboard.

for me atleast, a vid card issue (read: dead vid card) is far more serious than any other issues. its a ~$500 vid card, and the other components are all ~$275.

there isnt much chance of that, ive been on the same outlet all along.

thats looking like the most appealing problem right now. How exactley do you reset the cmos? ive never done that type of thing before. Is it just changing a jumper?

to reset the Cmos you ushally turn off AND UNPLUG the pcand move the cmos jumper over for about 5 seconds then move it back. Also check in your mobo manual :)

1 minute more like it, atleast. Some motherboards can take hours to reset the CMOS.

For some boards you have to move the jumper and wait - but additionaly, many times you actualy have to boot once with the jump in place for it to be effective.

If you dont want to look in your manual, the sure-fire way is to remove the CMOS battery.

The odds are kinda crazy though that you would have the cmos on two systems go bad at the same time. I am still betting on dirty power or maybe a lighting strike. A power issue could have ruined both of your PSU's at the same time. And if it is dirty power, it could be a new development (say if there is construction in your area, they may have damaged a power line and now you have dirty power - not actual dirt mind you - but spikey or low voltage etc).

Did you try a different PSU yet? Also if you have gigantic video cards, try just a normal cheap one. Also you should try just disconnecting everything in the system (HD, CDROM, paper tape reader etc) - get to the bare bones and see if it acts better.

Do you have a wired router? If so is it plugged into a non-surge outlet? If so, a surge could easily travel across the network cables.
