    Foamy always speaks the truth.

Maybe an explicit material warning for this one.

It's true. How many people heard about the 100,000 killed in a stampede in the middle-east the other day? How about the death of William Rehnquist, the US Supreme Court Cheif Justice on Saturday night? No one is covering anything else, because this story makes the most money. I saw a news reporter ask a black Louisiana state representative who lost his home and couldn't locate his family, who was in tears at the time, if they thought that the rescue attempts were race-related. Race-related?! C'mon, now they're turning this into a discrimination thing? It's absolutely sick what the media are doing, quite honestly.

A stampede in the middle east/eastish happens all the time, its so common thats why you don't hear much of it, newspapers don't report it. Happens every year at Mecca and in the river Ganges and in lots of other places where masses of people meet up.

And its not about money, people want to know about Katrina, people care and want to know about the welfare of millions of people. Newspapers and TV are reporting other news, you just need to look for them!

I think it's absolute crap that the media even thought once about pulling out the race card. The behavior of the people over there raping children and shooting rescuers makes me sick and embarassed to be an American right now.

The squirrel has vastly over simplified things. News reporters can not rescue people when the rescuees are dumb enough to shoot at military helicopters. . . There are reporters who are down in the water delivering a story, but there is nothing more that can be done to help the victims of the Hurricane.

I dislike the fact that all other news will suffer because Katrina is the hottest thing on TV, but I don't feel reporters should quit their job. Americans won't "forget about Katrina next week then complain about gas prices", people still talk about 9/11 today!

As far as the racism aspect of all this, yes their are black people stranded on their house. Given the fact that the population of New Orleans is mostly black, it would make sense for some of the victims to be black. The governor and many of the victims of Katrina have all claimed "the rescuers are racist", so I can understand a reporter asking for an opinion of how racisim might possibly effect the rescue efforts.

Some people will always search for a reson to complain. There is an e-mail discussing the late FEMA response (suplies had to be placed a long ways away or they would be destroyed), how Bush wanted to cut back funding for the repair of the levies (10 years ago enviormentalists fought to reduce funding for repairs to the levies), and this whole ordeal is a just a mass murder, this e-mail is supposidly signed by Michael Moore. . .
