Saw a great tweet today about this REACT raid.
As I said earlier in the thread, I have serious problems with the way Gizmodo acquired and reported on the new iPhone. But I have an even bigger problem with corporations using the police to do their bidding.

I would bet my life that before these computers are returned, Apple will be given access to them.

Didn't this happen with the 3GS ? By that it was 'found' in a airport a few months before release ?

As they say there's nothing wrong with raising your profile and getting everyone talking about a product before it's even hit the market.

A very clever ploy be it real unit or not.

I already posted that, keep up GOO :p

According to Reuters, there may be legal grounds for the search and destroy as it's an investigation in to a possible "theft".

This has all gone too far now. I can't even be bothered to explain my position on it exactly. Lets just say that I hate how the entire thing has unfolded and I disagree with the views and actions of all parties involved in some way. I wish someone would just sweep this away under a carpet somewhere, everyone could forget it ever happened, and that Apple could launch the new iPhone this summer the way they originally intended.

I love how this is going.

It's almost as exciting as an episode of House.

I love it to. Only it's not exciting just disappointing at how the parties involved have behaved.

Guy who 'found' the phone tracked down?

    http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2010/04/dude-apple/

This is interseting, especially in light of the finder's ascertion that it wasn't about monetary gain:

    Someone lost another one :duh:

This one has turned up in Vietnam in the hands of a man who likes to hit it. As it's there, there's a good chance it's a production model - it looks a bit cleaner with better seams and the screws have disappeared from the bottom.

Humm .. so besides hitting it and not putting a sim card in he's done nothing with it ?

Makes me think it's a scam, considering he's not shown an app running or any features of the os. But then i could just be a doubting tomas )

This year's Apple Worldwide Developers Conference runs from 7th-11th of June, if nothing happens on one of those days then I'll eat my keyboard.
