that really is the only way to get stuff sorted out in my opinion, for the same reasons thats why i feel safe selling in the uk... They have to give me their address for me to send it to, once i've got that, its all the security i need. Oh, and a trusty crowbar of course...

thats the problem... paypal know full well that they are the biggest most recognised opnline money transfer service out there. They know that if you don't use them, who are you going to turn to...? western union? nochex? certainly not, unless you really do want to lose your money...

most people will recommend bank transfer direct from account to account, no middle man, no fuss. Just some peoples accounts limit or restrict the use of these things.

Exceptionally useful, indeed. Particularly popular with sellers (not buyers) who use Internet forums.

Well, prodding this back to life again, sent the company the letter a few weeks ago and have yet to get an answer from them, so I guess they were just trying to b/s and scare me into paying them money that doesn't belong to them..

So nearly a year later, Paypal started harassing me by automated phone calls at every hour of the day, every single day of the week. T-Mobile (the dicks) wanted to charge me 15$/mo to block numbers, (I originally thought the phone number was a scam).

So finally picked up the phone and waited for 5mins for someone to pick up. They want their 200$ which they originally "authorized" without my consent to be "refunded."

After 2 weeks of arguing and just getting frustrated over this b/s I finally gave in, and paid them the 200$ to return my balance to 0 and requested they delete my account.

They're now saying I owe them an additional 200$ for the full 400$ refund. They're such dicks, it's amazing. I again offerred to show them what was returned to me and how they effectively already stole 200$ from me and now they want another 200$.

Getting really tired of this b/s. So word of warning to everyone. When shipping an item bought through Paypal, take pics of EVERYTHING, video even, of you putting the blasted item in the box, sealing the box, driving over to the postal office, writing the address, paying, and handing it over to the attendant.

Though seeing how major jerks they are, they'd still say the buyer's at fault somehow, even with video tape evidence of the proper item, plus tracking number, etc.

Well I learned my lesson at least. F*** Paypal. >.<

You have the address of the guy who messed you around, right? Did you ever visit him? If some ebay scamming shitbag conned me out of $400 and an iPhone i'd drive to the other side of the country to see him face to face.

In scenarios like this, don't pay. $200,-- is too little to set the lawyers or bailifs on you.

He lives in Russia (yes, I know, stupid of me to ship international)

Well I wasn't going to, but after nearly 2 months of them calling me everyday and T-Mobile refusing to block numbers, I just got pissed off.

Perhaps late in the day, but is there nothing the law can do? Haven't Paypal conspired (with the other guy) to defraud you of both your phone and money?

They always favour the buyer not the seller... even if they are frauds.

I stopped using Ebay after i got ripped off a couple of years back.

I looked into it with a friend lawyer, the fact the guy is out of country makes it practically pointless and would cost more than the 400$.

So w/e, I gave paypal the 200$, now they'll stop bothering me and I'm never using them again.

I wasn't thinking of suing, I was wondering whether Paypal have broken the law and deserve a criminal complaint. It may not get you your money back but their actions may be looked into, if they aren't already. Headline: Paypal under investigation for suspected defrauding of millions of clients.

Maybe the law works in a different way from my idealistic imagination.:sigh:

Wouldn't it have been cheaper just to pay $15/mo until you can change your contract or maybe just change your number.

Also T mobile may not be able to block numbers, but I know my phone can auto reject certain numbers. So might want to look at that.

All other phone providers do it, T-Mobile used to do it, then they stopped. I wanted to change my number, but it was a silly idea because there's a lot of people and organizations that have it and it just wasn't worth the hassle.

So I just gave em the 200$ to make them shutup.

I thought about it, if they continue to bother me after this though, I'll def look into it.

I'm sorry you had to go through all these troubles only to find yourself in this situation.

Personally, I would never send items such as iPhones or any other items of similair value overseas, especially to Russia and those type of countries (no offense really but I think you understand what I mean).

I use Paypal myself, and I can understand their situation, but why in gods name, if a disagreement is this crystal clear, would they still choose the buyers side. Seems quite ignorant and maybe even a tad criminal to me.

Anyway, good luck, maybe you have learned a valuable lesson out of this all.

There's definitely a good lesson that came of this, but I'm rather annoyed it was at the cost of 200$.

On the plus side, anyone reading this thread get to benefit from my mistake :p
