    Hi all,

I want some new RAM for my computer as it is at an excellent price at the moment, but I am confused at the differences between different sticks of RAM from the same manufacturer.

For example, Corsair Memory XMS3 8GB DDR3 1333 Mhz CAS 9 Dual Channel Desktop and Corsair Memory XMS3 Dominator 8GB DDR3 1333 Mhz CAS 9 DHX XMP Dual Channel Desktop with the exception of the heat spreader these sticks of RAM seem identical am I missing something?

I should also say I don't overclock however I may go for 1600MHz RAM as the price difference is negligible.

    Thanks

Pretty much the same thing underneath.

You are better off to go for the 16000mhz stuff while you are at it.

Thanks for that, I can't understand why there is such a huge difference in price for what is essentially a heat spreader

nope theres no difference between that ram what so ever, apart from the heatspreaders and the price. 1600Mhz is good to go for as its really the sweet spot to tie everything else in with it, multiplier, overclock etc.

If you want to overclock you memory get the one with the big heatsink.
    Over priced yes...

For an alternative option, same amazing quality as Corsair. Check out the G.Skill Pi series.
    They are cheaper
