I don't have much experience with this, but scan for networks then if they arn't secured with WPA/WEP/... you should be able to connect!

Just find one, and when you see it, in your wifi app just connect. You do have permission, right?

Most apps will automatically connect after you have manually connected once.

ugh. you guys either have no idea what i'm asking or just avoiding admitting you don't know.

let's say i'm in my car driving and have my laptop open. i want it to be able to find any open network and connect to it automatically while i'm driving. and if i lose that signal and there another open network, i want to be able to log onto that too without scanning, without manually connecting.

Like illegally and lamely (not to mention lazy) using other peoples (unsecured) WLAN?

And there is no way that I know that you automatically can hop to an other network you've never connected to before. You first need to connect to it manually, so that it becomes a known network, and then add it to your preferred wireless networks. Then next time you will connect to it as soon as the previous one dropped...

/reported, asking for a lazy way to do illegal things...

If your laptop detects a signal it will alert you but that signal could be password protected, If you think you have found a connection just right click your wireless icon in the toolbar and view available wireless networks. But other wise i dont think theres anyway to connect automatically to a random network.

I'm sure this could be done with a few linux tools and a bit of knowledge.

Does net-stumbler or similar programs not do something like this?

I know they can detect them, not sure if you can use it to connect to them automatically...

    You guys ae ******* morons...

At this point I don't care how much you idiots know or are capable of pretending to know. If you can't understand what he's asking for...your all a bunch of idiots. If he can't clearly state what he wants then he's a moron. But regardless.. here goes.

In windows xp go to control panel>network connections>Your wireless connection>right click on wireless connection>properties>Wireless Networks>Advanced>Make sue that Any available network (access point preferred and Automatically connect to non-prefered networks are selected.
BAM...Your done (yawn). No linux embedded ******* software no scripting no (well if you manage to reconfigure the flux capacitor so that it can interface with the quadra-dimensional space time continuum "I'm smart cuz i make suggestions that require tons of excessive action but can be said simply but still cover up the fact that i'm a moron" suggestions. None of that just what you wanted and my reflections on how irritating it can be to get a simple ******* answer. Goodday~

Trolling only gets you banned. I've left this post in because it has info that could be useful if you wade through the hate - Hex

Yes it does... It's not because a car is standing on the road with the motor running, you can drive away with it...

And bypassing the swearfilters is a nono... Just like double posting, and being rude...

Normally I would welcome you to Bit-tech, but normally one doesn't enter with that much cursing and swearing... So as a welcome gift I reported your first post to the moderators...

Nevinryal, You made a good point. Your trashtalk however is really unnecessary and only serves to annoy bit members. Unless you change your attitude, I doubt your stay will be long.

ok, now as far as i know/am concerned connecting to an network protected or unprotected WITHOUT specific permission or knowledge of its operator is illegal and thats that. by doing it in a car whilst on the move simply makes it wardriving another activity that is illegal.

further more the 'colourful' use of language in posts isn't needed or appreciated and is only going to earn you a one way trip to banned-user-ville.

Still a moronic answer, bored atm so here goes again. ^_^

Looks like your reporting was worthless, also when you break into or onto someones property it requires effort beyond common measures. Personally when I break into someone's network via aircrack i consider it BREAKING INTO. But when my local hotel has an open network and i'm connected to it, it's hardly breaking into. Blow me~ Btw, for your little thesis on what is and isn't illegal, suck on this. Walking up to a car with it's keys in the ignition isn't theft moron. It ain't legal but it ain't theft. Unauthorized use. and btw you leave you vehicle in a parking lot with keys in the ignition...Not only will I take the stupid thing and wreck but i'll drag your lil sister to hell with me in the backseat. Love Nev,

    P.S. Die.
