So I know the most elegant solution for this is the MS branded USB dongle. Whilst I suppose I can afford to buy this horrid little thing I flatly refuse to based on how it absurdly overpriced it is.

I currently just share my Mac's wireless connection over ethernet but I'm looking at possibly shoving the 360 into the living room permanently. Plus I can't get it to achieve anything less than Strict NAT settings this way, despite my most desperate attempts.

    So... What's the simplest solution?

I know other USB wireless dongles won't work but I imagine wireless access points should work fine, right? How about this one from Dabs, is it what I'm after? http://www.dabs.com/productview.asp...lectedId=11178&PageMode=1&NavigationKey=11178

I think a good solution would be one that powers over USB too, but how likely is that? I think I heard of an ASUS solution like this, but it was almost as much as the MS dongle.

    Cheers!

If you're want it to stay on the mac, the cheapest solution then you can make sure your mac is in the DMZ of your router. Make sure you turn off DHCP for this or at least make it so IP addresses are permanently assigned if you can. Then there should be a way in connection sharing in making sure anything sharing the mac's connection has certain ports open, you can on XP so I'm guessing you can with the mac.

If you don't want to keep it connected to the mac though, most wireless access points or bridges should work, or you could try and see if there are any specifically for the xbox/PS2 on ebay as those will work. My mate has his connected to a linksys thing he got ages ago and it works fine.

    EDIT: Here's one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LINKSYS-WGA11...ageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p1638.m118

Good advice regarding the Mac, but I have tried it before to no avail (sort of). I've some yucky Thomson router that has no real DMZ access via the GUI so even when I accessed it through the Terminal and opened up the Mac fully I ended up with just a Moderate NAT setting, which didn't feel like it was worth it after all the hassle as it had all of the same problems with online gaming as Strict did.

That little thing looks perfect! Cheers for that. Although I'd need a G standard at least, my DSL is 24meg alone. Anyone know of any available widely from any online retailers?

I've got mine hooked up to a hacked (DD-WRT) La Fonera which I got for free (including postage!) although I think you have to pay for them now.

That's an incredibly tempting price, still on the pricey side but very tempting indeed. Nah I'll just use my PC as a wireless access point if I decide to switch :p

Might be out of stock, but print off the offer and go into Pc World, they will match the offer.

I personally went the DD-WRT route with one of the spare linksys routers i seem to have laying about... Just set it as a bridge and bada bing bada boom... only annoyance is the fact the xbox thinks it's wired but I think I can live with that, plus this way I got the activity lights...

Just get the original XBOX wireless adapter or any that works over ethernet and not USB.
