When trying to connect to my home wifi it simply fails. I use wpa encryption, and my macbook connects just fine.

    Any ideas?

I use WPA2 at home and can connect up my iPhone fine. You don't have MAC filtering or any other security measures in place, do you?

nope, no other security measures in place. I'll check on all the settings and post back the specifics. It is definitely frustrating having broadband wifi yet being limited to at&t speeds on the iPhone.

Ok, I'm using WPA Pre-Shared Key with a TKIP+AES algorithm. I am very sure I have entered the passphrase correctly. I just disabled security and the iphone connects just fine.

I am thinking of just switching back to WEP with MAC filtering, but is that secure enough?
or should it be possible to connect with my iPhone using my current settings?

ok, I changed the passphrase and of works now. Weird.

Now to reset all my networked devices. Already changed 2 laptops and a printer. Just one more laptop and a desktop to go!

Go figure... I've always hated wireless networking for these kinds of reasons. WEP is crap, open is a bad idea, there are all sorts of version incompatibilities, etc. And of course, sometimes it just feels the need to be unnecessarily flaky. I couldn't get on the WiFi at work for the longest time, then it suddenly started working after no changes had been made.

I've had to change stuff to make my mac connect a few times. I don't think apple is too good at wpa.
