As the title says I have one pc with no network adapter, and another with a network adapter, is there any way of using the working one to allow the 2nd computer access to the internet? The original pc doesn't need access to the internet but ideally I'd like to game on my 7950 rather than the apu :D

you could use a usb to ethernet adapter but I don't know how reliable they are or if they are any good for gaming.

Why can't you fit a network adapter?

I can fit a wireless one but the signal is pretty terrible where the PC is and the other option is to wire another ethernet point in the wall but that is also quite difficult, I am looking for a short term solution to see if I can do it without drilling holes in the wall or move my pc to a different room which isn't ideal seeing as there isn't much space elsewhere!

So do you actually mean, you only have one network point in the room, rather than only one computer has an ethernet port?

    Small 2 port switch?

Essentially yes! How small and cheap are they! Also am I right in saying that a network switch gives a new mac address to the pc or is that incorrect?

Something like this would do it.

And no they won't change the PCs MAC address. They do add a device between the router and PC so it will be forwarded to the switches MAC address before the PCs. Not sure why this would be an issue?

I use one to give stuff on the other side of the room to the router a way of connecting without having to have a cable along the floor.

So I have a cable up into the roof, then down on the other side of the room to the switch, one goes to my PC and others go to other devices and are used for when I have other PCs to work on. No problems, port forwarding still seems to work fine. And they're really cheap.

Ok, may have to make an investment into one, I presume that every time you add a device the speed is divided equally between them? Or can you prioritise for instance my gaming pc over another device?

If you have an internet connection that can saturate a 100mbit switch then you shouldn't be looking at a cheap switch like that. Either way with 100mbit your gaming will be unaffected. Gaming doesn't use anything like that amount of bandwidth.

You cannot prioritise anything on an unmanaged switch like that. Things as dumb as a dodo.
