i rly need help overclockin my conroe e6600. i hit a rock wall at 2.759ghz , and i cant seem 2 get higher. also i cant find out how to lower the multiplier. my board is the ASUS P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe. it has many overclockin options, but i cant seem 2 take advantage of them. some plz help. also when should i up voltage and stuff like that? ty thanks all im an overclockin noob and i know it
Right, firstly have a look through previous OC'ing threads about Conroe - that should give you some help. Second I'd suggest you have a look at increasing the voltage a notch, then testing if it's stable any higher.
shouldnt need to increase the voltage...conroe is extremely overclock friendly at stock volts...i had over 700 mhz oc and didnt have to touch them...but you can always try it...could be the ram isnt very stable at that fsb so might need to find that divider...i have the 965p-ds3 so cant help you there...i will say that lots of reviews said ocz gold wouldnt run in my board, so maybe its the volts on the memory and ur board cant handle the oced fsb and the high voltage? just throwin something against the wall to see if it sticks really...highlander should be around soon to help
As Krikkit said, bump the vcore a touch and see if that helps. What speed are you running the ram at as well? It could just be that the chipset is maxed, the Nforce boards aren't clocking hugely well, most seem to max at around 330-350 mhz afaik...
thanks ppl ive read reviews about my board and some ppl said that it overclocks well but some bad, i might get the gigabyte board. I rlyu want to stay away from buyin a new mobo though, im not as rich as i was before i bought the comp : |. my heatsink is rly great so im not worried about temps, less than 60c load is all i want and at 2.7 ghz, it ran full load at 33c so im good, and that was with fans on low. my mem is going 2volts(ocz default) and 800mhz (ddr2-800)at least that is wut bios says.ty all
it upsetts me greatly that i cant overclock more not even 1 mhz even though when running 2 instances of f@h and pymol and superpi 32m at 2.759 rock solid with temps 33c!!!! [>: (]
hello, i am very new also. i have a C2D e6600 with sunbeamtech heatsink/fan, an intel 975xbx, 1gb corsair 675 ddr2 XMS, 7900GTX i cant get in the bios to overclock the processor, i can get in the bios, but their is no feature to let me overclock i heard that this motherboard is great overclocker, and also, my e6600 idle 43 C, is that good, shouldnt it be lower. ...or get water cooling =P j/king, yeah, both HSFs are good, but i believe the scythe ninja is better than the inifinity when passive cooling? Correct me if I'm wrong.

With a Gigabyte board we reviewed we didnt even really need to up the Vcore, I just moved it to 1.4 out of habit. It's BECAUSE you're using the inferior C19 chispet that it's crap. If you can hold out, hold out for the C55 and nforce 680i in a month.. or so. But Ive been saying that for about 2 months already
Sorry to hijack the thread but its a similar topic. I have a P5W Deluxe and an e6600. The bios is 1407 and IIRC, the bios has been updated to allow the multi to decrease between 6-9. Right, i just checked in the bios but i can't seem to find the option to change the multi... any help appreciated.
one thing ive noticed with alot of my friends boards, we all have ds3's, p5b's, 6300 conroes is that when we strip down the computer to a simple ps2 keyboard, no mouse, we have a crap pci gfx card we salvaged from school (hehe) and no sound card or cd dvd drives connect, jsut a hard drive we were able 2 get a high oc
