yea i think somethin wrong didn't reach 3.0 yet, still 2.970, but i cannot turn comp off or restart, whenever i do, it show the turning of screen like regular, but then the screen turns black which is still regular, but it never actually shuts off or restarts, i just stays black with my fans still ablazin. oh yea, 1.7 is max 4 mobo. 1.6 through north and south bridges with both of them running at 1ghz. don't know much bout mem timings though. Strapped some fans on my amazin scythe infinity running 38-40 idle and getting new thermaltake spirit II to cool northbridge and zalman vf700 alCu to cool vod card instead of my current passive. Still kinda dissapointed i cant get over 3.0. Still trying though

    Drop the voltage.
It maybe worth checking with a digital meter to get the exact voltage you're giving the CPU however.
Right CPU's maxed at 2970 you say? That's 330 FSB. Pretty much ALL the Nforce 570 based boards max at around 330.
Drop your voltage. Doesn't matter how low the temps are showing 1.7 is FAR FAR to much for aircooling. Would have issues running that for long periods even under Phase change.
For 3ghz, 1.35-1.4 max should be all you need - even the crapper 6600's should make that with relative ease.

I lowever to 1.6125 ish figure, one increment above 1.600. My bios tells me that im my cpu is consuming 1.58 v at idle (for 1 min) but asus probe says 1.46. im confuzed. time 2 check stability. my check = mdmark 06 and 2 superpi instances

Theres an edit button at the bottm left of your posts mate. Best to use it.

Did you just drop the voltage, or did you try dropping the FSB too?

It's a board limit not a CPU one i'd say.
Try dropping the multi to 8 and see if you can push the FSB further.

Also, unless you've got one of the worst E6600's out, you DON'T need 1.64v for 3ghz. 1.45v is getting somewhere near where you should be at, if not lower.

i think im qiet unlucky and got the worst lol. also it is a retail from newegg, not ES so i cant drop multi- at least i dont think so. I think bit-tech got 3 ghz on an E6700 wid this board. I know the E6700 is 266 mhz faster but i pretty sure i can get at least 2.98.

Thank you so much for your advice highland3r

You should be able to drop the multi, the chip allows it however the board might not have the option.
The 6700 has an extra multi available which is probably how they managed to get higher.
Ok, try 320 FSB with 1.45v and see if you can boot ok. Might be worth running some tests etc prior to windows, just to ensure you dont end up corrupting the OS.

Should be able to drop the volts a little more from there tbh. See how close to stock you can set them.
Also, make sure you run some Orthos/Sp2004 on the system just to make sure she's 100% stable.

Glad you finally got things to a stable point too

thanks, but today after a night of sleep, i woke up turned my comp on and started to play CS and it locked up. I rebooted, decided to let her idle for a few min then play cs and twas fine. Is this because of volts or mobo? ty

back form schoo, i turned it on and it instanlty locked up ><* i let it idle and it still lock up!!!!!! :waah: man it rock stable yesterday, why not 2day? I think she had nightmares.

edit: OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I raised and lowered volts and still it locks up. I cant even get 2 bit-tech before lock-up ness. Dammit i guess luck ran out. darn im def buyin new nforce i680!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! provided that it is a much, much better overclock. in not, screw sli goin 2 buy ASUS P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP or ASUS P5W DH DELUXE/WIFI-AP depending on which is a better overclocker.

decreased fsb to 328 run 3dmark fine, but lock on 2 instances of orthos

turned down fsb 3 mhz running completely stable now, i used all beches i know and rebooted an all that jazz. hopefully rune 2 morrow
