I'd pretend to be impressed, but the PR talk over the nubmers is depressing.

Whatever happened to "This is what we sold. Thanks guys.".

Why is everyone in PR 'super enthused' these days?

Maybe Woolworths and Zavvi etc had something to do with the increased sales. Saw alot of people at the checkouts in woolworths, with piles of games in hand and little children with cheshire cat smiles on their faces.:D

Well they were probably not expecting crazy sales this Christmas season, and they had ok sales so they chalk it up as "resounding success" and "we over-achieved". Me-thinks it's cool that they didn't have a bad Christmas season, but they didn't have a phenomenal Christmas season ether.

is this an increase in sales over november, or an increase in sales over last christmas's figures?

it sounds like they're getting excited over the fact that sales increased from november to december, which is probably the most obvious news i have heard all year.

I'm confused that the article hasn't had this thread attached as comments, but I'm not impressed with the PS3 software lineup - I'm mainly into RPGs myself, and the only PS3-exclusive RPG released so far that looks good is Valkyria Chronicles. I had been thinking of making Final Fantasy XIII my excuse to buy a PS3, but now that's going to be on X360 as well, and not until 2010. If Sony had kept backward compatibility and pushed to make PS1/2 games look better on the PS3 (e.g. by rendering the 3D parts at HD resolutions) instead of dropping the PS2 backward compatibility on newer models, I might be more tempted to buy one.
