I am currently helping a friend modify a Vauxhall Nova (yes, I am afraid it is a nova) we were given, and as stupid as it may sound we fancy trying our hand at car pc's Our main issue is the touchscreen display for the front. We could go down the road of paying £120+ for a nice 7inch screen but in the true spirit of a nova we're keeping it cheap and in all fairness crappy. We have a pocket pc with a touchscreen and we would ideally like to use this to control the main pc installed in the car. Is their anyway of doing this easily? basically, can you use a handheld pc to control a desktop pc? if so how!? Additionally and not really related. does water with UV dye in stain? For example if I sprayed a piece of glass with it, would it stick to the glass?
As far as I have seen, Lexus has a touch screen audio system GPS and probably other crap. In you case, you'd need to program a controller card to work with the touch screen and then program your computer to play nicely with the touchscreen. For the UV, just give it a try.
Depends on what OS the pda has, if it's windows mobile 2003 or w/e ... you can use one of many VNC programs, or even the built-in terminal... Otherwise, it's going to be tedious to have to vnc every time to the computer, I'd rather get a touchscreen, it'd be much easier.
