Hi all, I'm new here, so I'm not sure if this is the right forum or not... anyways, on to my question:

I have an old (like late-eighties) LED display made by "LaBelle Display Sciences Group". The model number says "202 LA EXP LINK". I know it used to be controlled from a computer (right now I'm using the little infrared keyboard that came with it). There are two phone jacks on the side, so I'm assuming that it would interface with a modem somehow. Can anyone help me find some software to control this thing?

    Picture of the display:

The phone jacks on the side:

    Thanks for your help!

i have ben in your position on more than one occasion with these things...
It is 99% likely that the "phone Jack" is not a phone connection but a RS232 or RS 458 interface connection. It is quite common for one of the jacks to be 232 and one 458 as a MAX232 or equ chip will translate 232 into 458 and this is use to program the display. if you work out the pinout of the jacks (take it to bits and trace them) then, if its 232 itll connect straight to the serial port of the PC... then with a bit of fiddling in hyper terminal you could get the correct commands to run it. if i was you i would stick with the remote!

what would be the benifit of that, if you want control by the PC, open up the remote and see what chip it has churining out the data.. i can almost guarentee itll be eitehr 232 or (more likely) 458.

You might be better off asking the manufacturers (if they are still in business) to see if they can supply you with an instruction booklet.
