PS/2 connections at the PC. Pin Name Dir Description 1 DATA Key Data 2 n/c Not connected 3 GND Ground 4 VCC Power , +5 VDC 5 CLK Clock 6 n/c Not connected Pin connections at the PC. USB Pin Name Cable color Description 1 VBUS Red +5 VDC 2 D- White Data - 3 D+ Green Data + 4 GND Black Ground What I'm thinking (I'm trying to convert a PS/2 mouse to USB just using some solder and re-wiring the thing...) is that Pin 3 and 4 of the PS2 obviously can connect straight across to pins 4 and 1 of USB, but what do I do with the PS2 pins of Data and clock?
While you can convert the pins all you want, the actual chip that the mouse was made with needs to be able to adapt from PS2 to USB. It won't work just by re-wireing the device. So if the mouse was originaly PS/2 it won't be able to convert over to USB (Unless it originaly came with an adapter)
