I'm a complete watercooling nobb, and have some up with a cooling design that will take the temps sub-ambiant, but regular deionised water will freese at that temp.

I need a coolant fluid that can go below 32 degrees, but that functions above 32 degrees, and looks good (I'm planning on using dye lite).

Oh, also, where in the US can I get UV blue Dye lite (this question has probibly been asked a milion times, I just can't find one the threads)?

    Thanks!

Blue dye is very very "washed" out..it barely glows. Rubbing alchohol? Maybe to treat the wounds of case moddin :D Seriously though..what did they say about it?

They were doing sub-zero cooling, and said that rubbing alchahol has a lower freezing point than water.

I lost the link, though :(

i cant say for sure because i havent tested it myself (i dont trust anybodys testing but my own)....but in theory it is sound....also with the dye lite, one thing may look great to one but it may look like crap to another

I've ordered a bottle off blue dye-lite last week with a new rad, should be here any day now. I ordered mine from Tekheads, but this is a UK site. I can take some pictures off it diluted as I will be testing what mix I need to get the desired effect.

I looked at it when you first sugested it. I'm looking for the more "clear" look, like with the dyelite.

If you are going cold enough for antifreeze, I would advice personally that you get a good high performance one (not the red one as it can react with tubing), I would not mix it with anything like wetter water as a good one will already have the same chemicals in and mix it to the manufactures recommended amount. They spend a fortune getting the mixes right, so I would go by their recommendations.

That's ok, Lord_Vheox. I can't expect you to go check your server logs for my IP address...

I don't want to use antifreese, because it limits the thermel comductivity of the liquid.

One thing, I was talking to a car nut about the Windshield washer fluid, and he said it would work, until it coroded all my fixtures away, would it do this?

well u can always ask to get a sample (??) and mix it with water and the dye, seal it in a tube for a while and shake it around once in a while... see if it starts eating up the tube...

    just a guess right?
