"Hey guys, we have this thing for you to buy, but we have no idea what we're going to charge for it yet. Get it on this date far enough in the future that most people will have forgotten about it, for some amount when we can be arsed to figure something out. Whatever"

If you have a release date, but don't have a release price, then your product is not ready for release, surely?

Or, you keep the price card close to your chest, otherwise everyone else decides to put they keyboards on sale the week leading up to your product release. And knowing the price will help them set a sale price just so sweet, most will snap it up.

    "100Hz/1ms polling rate"

My maths says that should read 100Hz/10ms polling rate?

I missed a zero, but from the other side: it should be a 1,000Hz/1ms polling rate. Will go fix, ta!

Then don't announce the product until it's ready for sale? Why announce a product so far in advance of the actual availability to give others a chance to jump in front? If it's not ready for sale until November, then it's not ready to be announced until November...

Product announcement should be "*new product*, available from *date within one week* for *price*"

That's not true at all though. What if you were thinking of picking up a similar item but are prepared to wait until that given date?

Personally I like to know what something is in advance of the retail release. Gives you a chance to look into things and weigh up your options a little earlier. If, for instance, you were in the market for a new high-end keyboard, this announcement may have stalled you from quickly snapping up a product already on the marketplace. You may well be able to wait until then to see what it might offer against other topre based keyboards. If you're not interested in a topre board, then you just ignore it and buy whatever else you were looking at. From their point of view it makes sense, from the consumer point of view it's not bad either as now they know roughly what to expect, pricing or not.

All I know is I'm intrigued, it'll most likely be expensive but thats expected given its a CM higher end part.

Oh, anyone watched the teaser video? Awesome!

Yea i stopped watching the video when it didn't make clear what differentiates this Topre keyboard from any of the others, unless the unique thing is the rebound time.

I don't know what preview video you've been watching, but the one I've seen clearly shows Topre-style capacitive switches. Look, you can see the board and the rubber dome sheet on this part of the video - and note that the springs go below the domes, not the keycaps, just like any other Topre:

And here's a better shot of the rubber domes themselves from the same video, to compare to the images posted in the DeskAuthority wiki page on Topre switches:

Happy to be corrected, if you've evidence to show a non-capacitive design that looks like a "springloaded topcap with a microswitch underneath" rather than the Topre-style capacitive design Cooler Master both shows in the video and claims to have used in its product descriptions.

Personally I like companies to release upcoming product info several months before release as this gives you the chance to plan in advance what you may buy, prepare for it (save) and still be one of those to have an item from it's release. Obviously a retail price is nice info to have but is often pointless anyway as etailers tend to undercut this so you never really know what the price is going to be until launch.

Evidence for this is exactly relevant with regards to the Corsair RGB MX keyboards which were announced and demonstrated many months ago but without a release price. These boards were officially released as of today under an new brand of Corsair Gaming... with various models such as the CGK70.

I am hoping that the official Worldwide release today means that a review is in the works here at BT and due for it's own imminent release. :)
I predict that it is a fantastic keyboard with overly complicated software control, but one that has the potential to blow people away.

They're using topre 'switches' (although they're not really switches) but the stems are compatible with MX keycaps - one of the main downsides of topre is that there isn't a lot of options when it comes to changing the keycaps.

My guess is they would get sued if they called them Topre-switches.
Mind you it's only a guess based on GH mentioning in the article Topre-style

We'll be looking at this keyboard as soon as it's available - hopefully at some point in October. In the meantime, Cooler Master wanted to answer some of the questions above:

    1. Why no price?
    Q: “…but don't have a release price…”
A: Expected UK MSRP: £149.99 GBP

    2. Why tell us now?
Q: “Why announce a product so far in advance of the actual availability...”
A: The delay in Europe is due to Cooler Masters commitment to fully offer regional ANSI and ISO layouts that best suit the needs of the European market. The NovaTouch TKL will open for pre-order in Europe at the beginning of November. If you want to be notified upon arrival in your region you can sign up on the sign-up page.
(essentially its launching in the US today anyway so we would rather let people know why it’s not in Europe yet and about local availability and pricing than just ask our fans to wait for updates on the EU side)
