Sup guys, I run a CoolerMaster Jet 7 which normally has a set of wires runnin to a control knob, a set runnin to a molex connector, and a yellow wire runnin to the cpu_fan 3 prong connector. To save clutter I spliced the red and black power wires from the molex onto the mobo fan connectore. For some reason now it won't read the fan speed on my ASUS probe program, also the fan seems a little shaky sometimes. Do I need to attach it back to a molex? Any suggestions on why the speed monitor is no longer working?

woa that was a mistake. i know that some fans pull tooo much power to be plugged directly in to the mobo. you might want to unplug that before you have periminant damage. some fan companies will not supply you with a direct connector for this very reason. i would not run that fan off of the mobo. :cooldude:

You can do some modding to your mobo by cutting the power lines...ie 12 volts and ground then soldering on a 12volt line and a black line from the psu directly to that plug...just make sure that you have those lines cut or else you may overvolt your motherboard and fry it!
