    Hi all,

After putting my new build together, I'm very happy overall. The only thing I have left to do is swap out the fans on my Coolermaster 690 2 advanced case as I've discovered that the supplied fans (while v quiet) are actually not very effective at all even at full pelt.

What I'm after is 1x 140mm fan for the front and 2 x 120mm for rear and top exhaust.

I won't be using a fan controller but am happy to undervolt the fans for less volume. I'd prefer decent airflow without excessive noise.

ps Was thinking of this for the front intake but not sure it will fit as it's mounting is a 120mm:

    Any suggestions?

    thanks

The 690II front intake has mount for both 120mm/140mm, however I wouldn't recommend the Thermalright TY-140 as case fan (I have two of these on my Silver Arrow CPU cooler) as while it does shift lots of air, the cable for the fan (PWM cable) is VERY short. I would recommend you going for this instead of you don't mind paying the extra:

But if you want to save some money, look for some Yate Loon 120 1350rpm/140mm 1000rpm. They provide good air-flow and are quiet as well.

And I would suggest you add a 140mm fan to the air-intake at the bottom...I found that it help greatly in lowering the temp for my 690II. Here's an old pic (prior to removing the drive cages):

I have moved the 140mm top exhaust fan that came with the case down to bottom middle as intake.

I would suggest getting these as well:

It will make mounting the fan are lots easily than forcing the case-fan screws into the holes of the fans.

I would 2nd that recomendation also, I use them in all my builds though you might find it tricky to mount the front intake fan in the the CM690 II using them, I used screws with my Q692 Evo build for that particular location; I used the siliconized pins for the rear extract and 2 side panel fans though :thumb:

Thanks for the info chaps - in terms of the anti vibration mounts - how do they get mounted as they look huge!? Excuse my ignorance but have never used them!

@Marine-RX179 - I see you mounted another fan onto the hdd cage too - was thinking of this. I'm guessing that made a big difference to overall temps too?

It's more to do with delivering cool air better to the graphic card air-intake (I have removed the drive-cages now, but I can still able to mount the fan using just the two screws mount on the top two non-removable drive cages).

For the CPU part, I actually white-tacked two 120mm fan standing in the three 5.25" bay for air-intake from there to deliver the cool-air toward the CPY cooler.

Good work - I can't do this though, due to having a third drive installed and can't remove the remaining bays..

    cheers

In fact that's the EXACT white-tack I used lol

You can actually see the white-tack at the bottom of my fan in pic 2. I couldn't be arsed to use cable tie, as the space restriction would make it quite difficult to get the hands in there to tie the cables.
