Small update, large photos... The only northbridge cooling block that I would fit *just* is the Alphacool one.. threw the springs away, got another mounting plate and had to use a 45-deg connector as not to foul any capacitors on my 6600GT... Front panel and switch... Were removed... Leading to this... Went to Homebase to try and find some bolt and screw fittings and came upon some 90-deg angle extruded aluminium... hmmm.. new rad mounting... In the case for placement... You'll understand why soon enough... working on something that involves 3mm smoked plexiglas and 3mm satin white plexiglas.
Me too... hopefully, it should be not too smoky as to not let a VFD show through haha.. thanks man, this case is the perfect size.. it's big, but also thin so it's not too big either! I made it, just a couple of quid spent at your local Maplin, some scrap wires and headers from an older PC and about 15 mins and et voila! A CMOS reset switch. Very simple but very effective
No, I meant where did you get the actual switch - the connector/wire isn't too difficult, but I've never seen one quite like it. Guess i'll be off to maplins.
looking GREAT. keep up the good work. edit: is it just me, or does that case look really long and short? edit2: 2 rads!? isnt that a bit overkill, regardless of what you are cooling? @Krikkit: search arount the internet, i believe mnpctech has them. does that suggest that there will be more than 10?! lol, jk
Well two rads of that size is overkill for sure, but it's also two different loops - one moderate-to-high flow and one distinctly lower-flow (the Aqua Computer plug+cool one). I use two rads too, but mine are both 120mm. How thick is the Alphacool chipset block? I'm now curious as to whether a Twinplex Pro will fit on the DFI boards; not that I use one myself but I know a ton of people that would love to do just that. Those light strips are awesome... you don't know of anywhere in the states you can get those, do you? I don't really mind getting my PCB on, but ugh, what a pain. Really liking this project, lots of great ideas.
Thanks for the comments guys. It is very overkill! i could probably cool everything in my case just using the EVO 360 radiator... but I had spare high-flow parts and I just had to have the new Storm G4, so it was decided for me.. just build it in!! The chipset block is about 15mm high, and it *only* just fits, i've had to change the mounting hardware as it wasn't secure enough and the graphics card touches the block. The Twinplex Pro apparantly is designed to fit in these situations but I couldn't wait for AC to release it so I went to Alphacool instead... I also bought the normal Twinplex and found it didn't fit afterwards, so I have an un-used Twinplex block just sitting here @uwannabigmak.. it's not you, that case is extra long, but the same height and width as a normal mid-tower case... that's why this case is so good.
At least by that time hardware will be able to run Vista. But enough about Metaversa 02 in this thread. Further speculation on that topic can happen in Metaversa's thread. In this thread, we focus on the tangible, hard, here-and-now concrete reality that is the pushing-back-the-boundaries new smooth slickness of J-Pepper's ATC-S4000 mod. Mod on!
Didn't dare ask on coolercases, but where abouts do you get your Ac gear as I quite fancy the Ramplex
Class looking case and good functional mods going in aswell such as the CMOS switch, looks neat and great so far keep it up !
