I was looking through the internet to see if there was any new cases due out soon, and I saw this one...... I have not heard of it before, and after a quick search on our forums, I didn't see any mentions of it. http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=9473&Itemid=46 Looks like a HAF 932 "XL" Just thought I would share my find with you
Thanks for pointing that out M7ck...I did read that bit when I 1st saw it, but didn't mention it in my original post. I just thought it would still be worth sharing, even if it's a concept/pre-production case.
It looks a bit..iffy. I bet the cooling's quite good amongst other things, but i'm not too fond of the fact that it seems monstrous already. If it was better styled then I might've looked at it more, but the king of Full towers remains to be Lian Li.
Is it just me or do most PC case makers produce ass-ugly cases? My usual gripes have to do with companies like Thermaltake and Coolermaster, but even high-end makers like Lian-Li and Silverstone make do some ugly work. What's with all the glowy things and silk-screened writing? Random curves and hints of colour? Do these companies serve a perpetually 14-year old minded aesthetic? If someone wanted a case that glowed blue and had windows all over it, they can mod it themselves. Even if these companies needed to serve that market, why can't anybody save for a couple models, produce a classy case? I always have to point back to Apple. Love them or hate them, they produce a nice modernist design that's mostly too simple to be repulsive. If you wanted to add some blue LEDs to it, go for it. Personally, I just want a compact and unpretentious case that doesn't scream cheap or gaudy. I mean, maybe I'm just old fashioned, or I'm not 'X-treme" enough to appreciate all of this.
It's marginally less fugly than the original 932, but I still absolutely hate both the design and also the size of these things. And yeah it seems like this just is the fashion now. CM keeps making these gaming-things and Antec has taken a long downhill ever since the original P180
