Basically, I want to cool the 9800XT in my Antec Aria, as it gets a bit toasty. I've been told that there could be problems with the Arctic Silencer clip [at the back] hitting the PSU. Now, I don't know of any other good coolers other than that one, so does anyone know of any? Obviously, they have to be able to fit in the Aria :thumb: .

As you can see, there's nothing in the case so far, but the furthest right PCI backplate will be the AGP one, so you get the idea.

    That'd be great :) .

As the PSu is the shape that it is, I just need to know how far away from the PCI backplate end, the clip is and how far from the top of the PCB it is. Providing it's the right pace, I should be able to have it on. One question; I know the clip at the back has a screw in the middle, but would it be ok to remove the blue plastic either side of the screw? These are the bits that I think might get caught :) .

I cant measure exactly, but its about 3" from the backplate, 1" high and 2" from the AGP slot at the closest edge to the backplate and 1" furthest away.

The distance from backplate to the edge of the blue rear clip of the VGA Silencer on my 9800 Pro is less than the standard depth of an ATX PSU. Unless it's a special slimline PSU (and it doesn't look it) the PSU will impinge on the clip all the way to the first mounting hole. Depending on exactly how much space there is between the back of the card and the PSU, you might be able to cut off parts of the blue plastic leaving the metal supporting bar in place, but even that might sit too deep to avoid conflicting with the PSU (which you could also cut holes in, if you're daring enough :D) Another idea is to forego the rear clip altogether, and just screw the VGA Silencer straight to the card. I've done this in the past, things to keep in mind are that you'll have to trim one of the screws a few mm so that it'll go in all the way, and the washers that are included with the VGA Silencer are too malleable to hold the screws off of the PCB - you'll have to either go it without washers, or find some nylon ones.
