Ok, all! I've decided I need a new way to cool my CPU (down from 60c). I need all your opinions on the best way to cool this baby down..... Please include a web site where I can buy it (if possible) and how it has helped you....(temp. comparison ex. before/after)
I'll be using it on my AMD 2000+ w/ Asus A7V266E MoBo.
Thanx again for all your help, (I need it! :D )

    P.S. no liquid cooling please....

My recommendation would be the Thermalright AX-7 with a 80mm High Output Delta. This is a pretty spendy setup, but I'm sure you'll see in incredible performance upgrade. The delta's are very loud fans, but if that doesn't bother you too much, then it will work. If loud fans is a big deal, then you can pick up a quieter fan, and still have a big drop in temperature.

Pick up the AX-7 and Delta fan here...

This is presuming your in the US. If your in the UK, or Canada, then you'll have to find someone who sells it there, cause I can't think of anyone off the top of my head.

as most people on this forum will agree the AX-7 is far to heavy a cpu to have hangin on the lugs....

i would personally go for the Alpha PAL 8045 if you have plenty of money, with any fan you like, or the Taisol 760 if youre on a budget...

if u live in uk or anywhere else you can pick these up from:

An Alpha Pal 8045 with a Delta 80mm for top notch cooling, if noise is a problem get a Mechatronics 80mm.

Definitely the Alpha 8045 with a Mechatronics (IMO the Delta is overkill)! If you don't want to use the excellent Overclockingstore, then www.chillblast.com also stock 'em! If that's going to cost too much though, the Taisol 760 is another good option! Whichever you choose though make sure your case cooling and airflow are adequate and that you use a good thermal compound like Arctic Silver!

While that will be more than adequate, for a similar price you could have got the Alpha, which IMHO is better and safer (and was also recommended by 3 people in this thread, compared to 1 for the Thermalright)! Also, I hope you like noise, because those Deltas aren't quiet. Still, it's your choice and I'm sure you will be happy with what you've got!;)

Oh yeah, don't forget to check your case cooling and airflow!

A AX7 is one hell of a HS to have hanging off a few lugs:sigh: I to favor the 8045 and when the have had enuff of the delta get a Mechatronics 80mm or do a 7v mod on the Delta.

Well....I got it!!! but there is a problem.... I cant figure out how to hook up the delta fan!!! I has a connector for attaching to the MoBo but the MoBos electrical rating is 350ma (4.2 watts).
This fan draws almost a full amp (.82) i think. I see no other way to connect it. Can I buy an adapter to hook it up directly to my power supply (500 watter)? I've never seen an adapter that looks like that before and I dont want to fry my motherboard... help! :sigh:

that heatsink is damn heavy, so best take it off if youre going for a long journey or it might breakoff inside your computer case and kill some componnents...:eyebrow:

Nasty stuff, all for the sake of not getting a decent HS.

MAN!!!! you all are starting to scare me!!!! :eeek: I've decided to use the mounting holes around the CPU for adding a home made Bracket to hold it up for added support. I probably wont start until this weekend..... I'll keep u posted...... :dude:
