    Hi all,

I'm interested if anyone else has used the Coollaboratory Liquid Pro, Liquid Ultra or MetalPad, and if so how has it turned out? In all of the lab tests I've seen it comes out on top, but when I tried using it I found it difficult to spread, even worse to remove, it formed little balls that easily run off onto the rest of your electronics, and when I removed my 4870X2 cooler (after it had died from overheating or shortcircuiting . . .) I noticed the TIM was a blackish-brown colour like it had burnt. Here's the product page, including video of application, for those who haven't seen this odd stuff . . .

Also, anyone tried IC Diamond, which often comes out next to Liquid Pro in the performance tables.

I've used both. Liquid pro gave me a 2ºC reduction compared to MX-2 but is a complete pain to remove. IC Diamond was 1ºC worse than MX-2. I'm sticking with MX-2.

Liquid Pro is supposed to be an absolute PITA to put on and to remove. Nowhere recommends it as worth the grief compared to normal paste. I've used MX-2 and it's good, Diamond never tried but looks to be a bit more annoying (needs a hairdryer to get it out the tube IIRC) for minimal gain.

I'd go with AS5, MX-2/3, or the Noctua stuff. If you want something bloody annoying to do for minimal gain, try lapping instead.

There's something else about IC Diamond I forgot to mention. When you remove it because it's abrasive it removes all the markings from your processor. I'm not sure but I think without these you may lose the warranty on it.

Ive got some Coollaboratory Liquid Pro, and imo the temps arent worth the hassle of putting it on and taking it off. Its a complete PITA tbh, im on mx-2 now and much happier.
