    Hi,

Does anyone know a UK supplier where I can get some long fasteners, about 30mm long, with threads suitable for hard drive mounting holes.

Alternatively, does anyone know what the thread specification is for fasteners provided for mounting hard drives.

I'm also looking for a UK supplier of copper plate, that will sell small quantitis, something like 300mm x 150mm x 10mm.

Thanks Linear, that's no problem if they are standard M3 I can find them all over the place.

About the only place I know of, other than your local scrap yard is Here, thing is, they don't do mail order, so you'll have to check the site to see where your nearest branch is!

a 300mmx150mmx10mm slab of copper with weigh a ton, (not literally but the small copper blocks for peltier use on cpus are about 50mmx50mmx6mm and it weighs about 150g

so a piece the size you want is going to be about 3 kilos.

Dunno where you could get it but i'd be interested to know what you want it for :)

Just an idea at the moment, and those aren't the finished diemensions, it would be cut and have sections milled out to make waterblocks.

A lot depends on how much the material and milling/CNC machining will cost, since I don't have access to a workshop.

OK, I guess it's no a great loss if I spend a few pence on a handfull of M3 fasteners and they don't fit. I'll add them to that box of odd nuts and bolts that I can't bring myself to throw away even though I never seem to find a use for them.

Why are there so many different threads anyway? Maybe I should just chuck away my tools, keep one hammer and get a tube of "No Nails", would make everything a lot easier. :D
