For christ sake listen. I used it as an example, a perfectly applicable one at that. There are a thousand and one different checks he/she could have been doing for many different reasons. He may not have been able to tell you what they were and why, or perhaps he just didn't want to.

On the otherhand, he may have just been holding you up because you were being rude, impatient and offensive. Much like you have been on here. Who knows.

Lets reverse it for a second; You're walking down the street, and for no reason a man pushes you to the floor and pins you there whilst he takes your mobile phone and some cash from your pocket. He quickly jumps into a red Corsa and makes off down the road. You immediately call 999 and shortly after the police stop the Corsa in question. The driver of the Corsa shows a letter detailing his need to be at the job centre in five minutes time, so the officer lets him go. Being told this, how do you feel, knowing that if that Officer spent just 3-4 minutes being a bit more thorough you could potentially have your phone and cash back and successfully put the man behind bars?

Or maybe he just felt like being awkward who knows he didn't say.

Where did I say I was being rude to him No you just keep assuming that's the case is there any point in me denying it after all its all ready been said I'm a liar lazy with double standard's and poor grammar.

That may well be your opinion or was it Atomic? But if you was to ask anyone that actually knows me or has done business with me you would find that I have very high standards of honesty and principles.

Edit I'm not being rude here but I cant see the relevance of the quote you've used above that was a answer to Nexxo you couldn't possibly understand it

You sarcastically asked a Police Officer if they were hitting on you. I'd find that quite rude if someone I was speaking implied I was gay and hitting on them!

Too lazy to check who said what? You're proving me right now.

You say you have principles, yet you speak down of the Police and call them:

I know of people being caught committing burglary who should not be climbing out of a hospital bed, let alone through someone else's window. Drug addicts in a state of emaciation, alcoholics jaundiced with cirrhosis. Some guy on crutches (knees shot with arthritis) had his teenage sons do the heavy lifting while he sat in the getaway car issuing instructions. Seriously, you would not believe some of the stuff that goes on.

Sorry, can't find the energy to directly quote everything I would like to since my last post, so I'm just gonna go scatter-gun. I'd originally perceived this thread as light-hearted banter but it seems increasingly pedantic and people taking things more seriously than I had expected. Apologies if my tone has been misplaced, but please could others try and avoid the condescension?

    i) 'Public Order hit-rate' - I was just referring to the number of arrests you might have made for public order offences, implying it might be higher if you're not inclined to tolerate standard jibes. When I was still with my tutor we drove slowly past a group of yoofs and one of them used the pig word. My tutor, clearly rattled, jumped out the car and gave the kid a mouthful, it was quite embarrassing. You might say that that was her teaching the kids an important lesson in respecting police, but in my experience kids have far more respect for you if you can demonstrate tolerance, patience and a sense of humour.

ii) Teel has an identity on here. Alternatively, we have no idea who the officers he referred to were. So anything said about Teel surely has more impact on here than what is said about the officers.

iii) Atomic - you're remaining vague about your connection to the police, but I was a frontline, response shift, policeman five years ago, have kept in touch with those I knew then and my brother-in-law is a cop in London, so how you can presume I don't know anything about modern policing just because I've casually used a well-used colloquialism is way off the mark, verging upon embarrassing in the way you try to educate me about law enforcement (I still collect evidence and initiate prosecutions in the job I do now, so I know only too well the standard of evidence required to secure a conviction). I don't how old you are or what you do but your sensitivity to the casual use of a few clichés about police and food is silly - if you want to take everything people say so literally you must surely find yourself regularly irritated. But don't worry, here's a fact you can use against me any time you like: while I WAS A POLICEMAN I lost weight due to the tendency to work through a whole shift without stopping for breaks. Now I look really stupid, don't I, because I've already said (not) that all policeman are fat, lazy, donut munchers?

Turns out, having read the latest page of this thread there's not anything else to say. I think a great job is being done to show that how easy it comes to some people to pick a target and go for it incessantly because they can. Oh no, it's not just because they can, it's because they use bad grammar. So it's condescension AND snobbery then?

That was after his smart arse reply

See above No one said I was to lazy to check seems your guilty of being to lazy to check.

I treat people in responce to the way they treat me.

    i) Ah okay, I'm with you now. The HOCR apply to Public order jobs; You'd understand why I'd avoid that.

ii) Teel's overwhelming generalisation of 'The Police' makes that wholly irrelevant.

It's not snobbery or condescension. It is pointing out how far a bit of polite, well thought out discussion can get you. Something Teel has not displayed.

Let's be the change we want to see in the world, guys. Let's lead by example. 'cause Porkins' has a point. I've been preoccupied with other things else I would have shot this thread in the head a long time ago. It would have been the most humane thing to do.

The next post I'd like to be calm, objective and measured. Else this thread closes and goes in the attic where we keep all the threads that are an embarrassment for the forums. :worried:

But he's made comments about having come across good officers, about how he was referring to cops around where he lives specifically etc. so why do you insist he is making generalisations? OP made generalisations and pissed off not long after. Teel hasn't been doing that.
