    Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) - if the sun does send these particles what exactlly should we as humans should prepare for?

    This is supposed to be a tech discussion, that's why I'm here; to ask from our loyal Bit-tech members for some information?

    What the hell brought this on?

    The biggest danger from CME (as I understand it) is to satellites. They have special shutdown modes to make sure they aren't damaged when it's going to be a bad one, as long as we spot it in time.

    You need to wear a tinfoil hat. The CME weakens the ionosphere and lets aliens read your mind!

    Not necessary to satillites only!!

    But also to people that live in earth meaning us why?
    because if the CME gets through the Ozone then earth will burn up due to the CME and eventually all the flames will burn up all the oxygen which keeps us alive.:wallbash::wallbash::wallbash::jawdrop:.

    You do realise that the Earth has been sustaining life for one billion years do you? That is a quarter of the age of the solar system. At no point during this ludicrously long time has a CME ever buggered up life on Earth.

    Really, stop watching those dodgy sci-fi disaster movies.
