im intrigued now, after using corsairs calculator i found out that i could use one for the following.

Intel quad core (non extreme edition) at a 30%+ overclock
ATi 4870 (single card - stock speeds)
    4 HDD's

    http://www.corsair.com/psufinder/ try it yourself.

pricing up a build for post christmas, and this seems like tempting PSU choice for the above specs.

    sound realistic? or optimistic...

Pretty realistic, computers aren't as power hungry as everyone thinks.

I'd still go for the HX520W. Not only has it modular cable management, but it's (still?) built by Seasonic. I love mine to bits! :)

I think I heard they may be bringing a modular ~400 watt PSU out sometime.

The HX450W, with a 7 year warranty! Now, if only it is a Seasonic build that would make it near perfect! :)

Of course it's Seasonic, it wouldn't have a 7 year warranty otherwise. :)

That's great for a budget non modular PSU. I know it will go in my future low powered builds!
