Just picked one up off ebuyer (120GB), £115 was irresistible.. Did I make a good decision? I read up on the whole recall fiasco but I trust that any issues have been fixed. Also, is it really as fast as they say? 550MB/s read and 510MB/s write seems an awful lot faster than the 415, 175 (respectively) of the (more expensive) M4...
I have that SSD and to be honest in real world terms you wont see that kind of read/write speed. You wont even notice it to be honest. I'm using mine as C drive for obvious reasons for the most part it's a great SSD. Two months using it so far and I will never go back!
I have a Force 3 too. It was given to me by my friend as he was having freezing issues that plagued most if not all Sandforce based drives when they came out. No amount of fixes found in the Corsair forums could get it working properly so in the end, he went out and bought 2 Crucial M4s and RAIDed them and he's had no issues since. I too have had no issues whatsoever in the 4 months its been in my PC. I think the difference is he was running the drive on a SATA 3 controller whereas its now only running on a SATA 2 controller in my PC. I agree with what MrDomRocks about not seeing those kinds of speeds in real world use though but the performance difference between a mechanical hard drive to a solid state drive more than makes up for it. I think you'll be really happy with your purchase
@lanceer778544: Most of the issues were fixed at late 2011 update (1.32 released i think somewhere in October?).
I have a 60gig model that was an RMA replacement for a broken series 2 and in terms of performance I don't notice much difference. It's been in a month and no problems with the 1.3.3 firmware.
Thanks for that faugusztin. I would update it but the Corsair update tool can't find my drive (I think it's because I have a nVidia chipset...) and I don't have another SATA enabled PC to try and update it on either. I'm not too worried anyway, I've had none of the issues my friend had
